The Northern Lights are usually seen in the Arctic Circle but, when the Sun is very active they can also be seen in northern parts of the UK. The Sun IS VERY ACTIVE at the moment so, I'm hoping to see one. I HAVE seen about 4 or 5 & it REALLY IS AMAZING. The most predominant colour is green, then red. Those 2 combinations are the most common. There can also be purple & blue which are not so commonly seen: I've only seen that once. The colours slowly change blending into each other & then separating again. The shapes change too. The most commonly seen are sheets & curtains of colours but, rays & arcs can also be seen. The very 1st. one I saw had radiating rays from a central point. You need clear dark skies, preferably, with no bright Moon & displays can last several hours. So, grab a chair to sit on & wrap up warm before enjoying! Fingers crossed I'll get to see one again soon.

The weather has not cooperated: it's been stormy, wet & windy the past week or 2 during the solar flare-ups. But, with the cold weather, the skies are clear now. I'll still keep an eye out but, the flare-ups are probably over, for now. Oh, well, such is life! Until the next time then!
