I would get worried and cry that I couldn't do anything .-.

What I usually do.
try to talk them out of it, and i've succeeded 3 times 3 different friends.

its complicated for me to explain here because i do it as I go and i mean what I say.

I would tell that person that suicide is a dumb choice in any situation. It's just an easy way out and it shows cowardice and it's not going to do anything but cause pain and misery to the people around あなた because あなた would be gone. あなた need to face whatever situation you're going through and just live through it because killing yourself is wrong and stupid.

directing them to a suicide hotline is usually a good idea

あなた should ask the person what's going on and talk things out and make a solution for his/her problem

Try reasoning with them. If they won't change their mind tell their parents.

Try talking them out of it, and if that doesn't succeed, talk to an adult that will help.

Hear them for what they have to say,, let them talk their emotions/emptiness away because it's most likely they feel alone at the time, like they have no one else to listen to. Even though あなた just met and may be strangers, remind them that even though they're just one person they stilm have a significant meaning to the wworld. I mean look at me now, I don't even know the persons name yet I'm sure that I could never forget a 質問 like thiss, ttherefore I could never forget a person like them.
