Johnny's accent in Alice In Wonderland?

I was a bit freaked out and tried not to laugh when I heard The Mad Hatter speak for the 1st time. Did he change his accent または sth? Sound so not like him, but strangely adorable...

it must be kinda hard to speak not with your real accent. i can't, but Johnny did it thoughout
