I think she's both to be honest. To give up everything just to have a chance with Eric is courageous and reckless at the same time. Thank goodness things went her way in the Disney version.

Reckless 100%. I see courage as standing up in the face of all opposition, and doing what is right. Ariel just wanted the hunk. I think a better word might be... selfish, unfortunately. But maybe she grew up.

I think she put to many lives at risk, I don't think that's courageous.

She got nearly killed by a shark because of a fork - do I have to say more?

i find her recklessness, courageous in a way. :) i mean not everyone is gonna go to a sea witch to ask for help. She's just very determined. :)
