I'm not sure if I understand this poll. You mean, like in PatF, Pocahontas and Mulan?

I think they do just fine. They have diversity; Mulan, Pocahontas, Tiana, etc. And I don't feel like they make fun of people of color or white people. Long story short I think Disney is fine.

Unless you count making Tiana the only DP who spends most of her movie as an animal and not actually showing her as a human with her face...

Silverrose, that and Aladdin. Sorry, most people don't focus on race when the protagonist and the area are where Caucasians are living in.

Agree with hatelarxene.I saw a post on tumblr about disney confession and it made a good point, why's Tiana been the first African American princess appears as a frog in half of the movie?And why did they use an African people for it?

They handle the situation very well, imo.

They could do better, as they're not the most accurate portrayals, but all in all they do a nice job representing diverse cultures I think.

I don't think being a frog in half of the movie has anything to do with their decision to make Tiana an African American. If it was really racistic, they wouldn't made Tiana a beautiful, intelligent and independent lady...

I think Disney can be very racist with the way they portrayed the arabs and the chinese. People don't pay attention to how offending Mulan's Honor to us all could be offending to some chinese people. But even though Mulan was kind of offending, it wasn't that much. But it was in Aladdin. Many people on this site have told me "how is Aladdin offending?". Their are many reasons why Aladdin was a super racist movie. People think it is because of the whole Jafar thing but that isn't all. Their is alot more to it than that, and most of it is things that you wouldn't really understand unless you are arab yourself.

^ You know, I think you should write an article about it. I know I and many people would be interested in it from the portrayal of an Arab. Even I have to admit that out of the 4, Aladdin is the most insensitive. As an African American, if PATF was offensive to me, I would have called it out and made a post about it. At least you are being honest cause I want to hear some who oppose.

That's what I thought too hatelarxene. But then again, PatF can be blamed of racism for everything. Not that I disagree it isn't, but I don't think it's offensive at all. Honestly, stereotypes are okay. They are things you expect to see, just don't take it too far and Disney never has taken it too far IMO.

Well, it definitely isn't "offensive, tacky, and they need to stop." There are some mildly uncomfortable moments in some of the films, but mostly they tend to treat it the way they would any European culture- heck, a lot of times with significantly more reverence. And on Tiana being a frog half the time- that wasn't Disney's idea, though. They based PATF on "The Frog Princess" by E.D. Baker, which you can loosely see the plot of in the film. Disney's never changed the setting (basically the country of origin) of a story to make it feature a white character (though, admittedly, there are countless adaptations of Cinderella, but that was also made before the Civil Rights Movement- I wish they would remake it on one of another culture's versions, but that's unlikely to happen, and I'm digressing) and they did change the setting for PATF so Tiana could be the first African American princess. And while the culture may not always be very accurate (yes, I am looking at you, Pocahontas,) the characters are generally pretty respectfully written.

Some of them are really offensive to someone that is that race but they only did that with some of the movies like song of the south, jungle book, and the little mermaid but that's it as far a race discrimination princess and the frog wasn't racist at all thats how it was in the 1920's I love it so...nah disney isn't bad at all with race

Aladdin is the most racially insensitive DP movie in my opinion. Mulan was a bit insensitive on some parts, but not too bad. All in all race in the DP movies are handled way better than race in some of the older Disney non-DP movies.

Disney is actually pretty good in this regard. They could do better, but they are miles ahead of ALL the other animation studios.

Swanpride- Just out of interest, have you seen the complaints about Frozen- as far as I can tell, it's basically because the main characters are white. I'm always so tempted to bring up the fact that no one complains that we haven't had a non-white lead in a DreamWorks film since the transition to CGI, but I don't want to feed into that (mostly it's just really angry people who tend to just blindly hate white people and aren't actually rationally trying to initiate wider representation and end discrimination.)

^ Oh yeah, so people expect an Asian person in scandanavia. Swanpride talked about DreamWorks lack of ethnic characters in the article too. Ignorance is such an ugly thing.

The few times they acknowledge other races exist, they portray them really well! ^^

I want to see another black princess, but after all the controversy surrounding Tiana and Naveen and PatF's lukewarm reception, the odds of that happening anytime soon are pretty slim.
