the quotes and the ending seem part of it. And since it was a huge tie between both of them, this summed it all up. The romance and the soundtrack isn't REALLY important, many movies are great without romance or any music. You shouldn't just watch a trailer with an interesting plot, beautiful animation, and say that your only gonna watch it for the romance.

Although the ending usually gets me. That's a huge portion of why I don't like Pocahontas.

One can do a good movie with fairly cheap animation (see Robin Hood), without a romance, without music...but the story and the characters have to work. I chose story because it is possible to tell a good story with fairly bland characters, but even the best characters can't rescue a shitty plot.
Second is the music...not necessarily the singing, but a score can make or break a movie.

With Disney Princess movies and actually all Disney movies in general, nearly all of them need to have characters I love. Next in importance I would say is storyline, then songs (a couple of my favorite Disney movies don't have many songs), then romance (again, a couple of my favorite Disney movies don't have much/any of that), then animation, then ending (I agree with starlight77 on Pocahontas except I wouldn't say I dislike the movie, it's just my least favorite DP movie). I'd say only the memorable quotes are not that important for how I pick my favorite Disney movies.

I might be the only one who actually likes Pocahontas ending. Anyway, I believe that a good storyline implies a natural and organic character development (thus well written and relatable characters is an obligatory aspect of it) and a convincingly written romance therefore I go with that option. On the other hand, I love both of the Pocahontas movies but hate the romances in them however, considering that I mostly enjoy them for Pocahontas' character struggles OUTSIDE of her relationships with Smith and Rolfe, I guess it's because everything else about the story and the movie works for me, including the music and animation. That's why, generally, yes, I go for good storyline but even IF the storyline is flawed and the romance is flawed there are certain factors that can make up for said flaws, therefore I consider animation and characters to be incredibly significant as well.

And characters. The story sucks, I wont like it. Enough said. Quote, ending, music and animation are all great plusses though.

I agree with SwanPride, (not about music) because I adore Mulan's plot and love the movie as a whole, even though Mulan is one of my least favorite princesses. I find the PATF characters on the whole wildly more interesting than Tangled's, but the plot is piss-poor so I can't.

There're a lot of things which are important to me. First it's a good storyline, second good characters, third well soundtrack and animation.

If it's a good storyline everything else falls into place sometimes.

Also storyline. The animation is important to me as well, it can be the difference between a good movie and an excellent movie.

As well as characters and couple/romance :)
