I don't know if I'm alone on this, but I've become quite tired of everyone bashing the earlier princesses and saying they're bad role モデル for girls. Personally, I think parents shouldn't be relying on fictional, animated characters to be the role models... but that's a whole different issue altogether. In this 記事 I want to address the common complaints towards the princesses: waiting around for/needing a man, not being independent, etc...

Snow White:

I want to start with a reminder that Snow White is only 14-years-old. Face it, her story is no different than any other 14-year-old girl's: still lives at home, does chores, daydreams about the guy she likes. Keeping that in mind, it isn't fair to say that she isn't a good role model because she isn't independent; very few 14-year-old girls are. And they don't need to be, that's the point. And I don't like that everyone says she's sitting around waiting for a man. That's not true. Her step mom tried to have her killed. She had to run away from ホーム to save herself, but she literally didn't know anyone. She was fortunate enough to come across the dwarfs and they took her in. It's inaccurate to say she stayed in their cottage, just waiting for her prince. As far as she knew, that was her new ホーム considering her old ホーム was no longer 安全, 安全です and she didn't know anyone else. But, she pulled her own weight によって cooking and cleaning. True, in the end she DID need a man, but that wasn't によって choice または anything. She was under a spell and couldn't exactly wake herself up with True Love's Kiss; even the most feminist of women can't pull off that trick. Blame the Evil クイーン for Snow White depending on a man- Snow White had nothing to do with it. Snow White is, hands down, the kindest of all the Princesses. Yes, she was also naive; but she was very young and had absolutely no real world experience. She was just being caring and helpful to someone she thought was in need. If anything, we could all use a little bit of Snow White in us; true no good deed goes unpunished, but that doesn't mean we should turn our backs on those in need. In this case, Snow White was a very good influence.

Aurora:

There really isn't too much to say about Aurora since she actually wasn't in the majority of her film. She was a lonely girl. All she had was her family; no friends, thinking she had no real chance at 愛 または much of a future. So, she daydreamed about the life she wanted and I think most people can relate to that. True, it probably wasn't smart to talk to a man she had never met before, despite the fairies' warning. But, let's be honest: if any one of us were in her situation, we would do the EXACT same thing. I mean, who doesn't want to dance with a handsome, mysterious stranger in the woods? Her only real flaw was refusing to tell Phillip her name, but being もっと見る than willing to tell him where she lived. As far as being independent, again, she was still young and didn't have much of a choice. The 妖精 most likely didn't give her a lot of freedom and then she was forced into the life of a princess. And, like, Snow White, the whole needing a man to save her wasn't exactly what she wanted. She was put under a curse that only a キッス could break. There was nothing she could do for herself at that point. If anything, Snow White and Aurora only teach us that あなた need a man to rescue あなた if あなた happen to find yourself under a curse によって a witch または sorceress. But, let's be honest: how often does that really happen nowadays?

Cinderella:

One thing that bothers me is when everyone says Tiana is the first hard working princess. That's not true. Think about all the stuff シンデレラ had to do. She basically, single handedly took care of the house and held it together. If anything, シンデレラ is the most like stay at ホーム and single moms (Without the kids... unless あなた count the animals, which she also took care of によって herself): overworked, never appreciated and completely under valued. シンデレラ lived with her family and made absolutely no money: she couldn't leave and start her own life. She was as independent as someone in her situation could be. Technically, she did need a man to "save" her, but she wasn't waiting around for him to do so. She had very little control over her own life, but it was her life and she had accepted it. Of course that didn't stop her from wanting more, like everyone else. She daydreamed about what it would be like to not be a servant anymore and treated as an equal. With very little exposure to the outside world, she couldn't really meet a man- so her only option was to go to the ball and hope he would choose her. Of course, it can be argued that シンデレラ could have just left and tried making it on her own. And that's true, she could have. But then that would have meant living in the streets until she somehow earned enough money to get her own place. But, let's be honest, hardly anyone actually hires homeless people.

One もっと見る thing I think everyone really needs to keep in mind is that Snow White, Aurora and シンデレラ are women of very different times. Everyone is constantly judging them によって how women are in the 21st century, but they're not supposed to represent women of today. Now, it's もっと見る common for women to have a career and her own life before getting married. But, if a woman wants to get married, have a family, cook, clean and take care of the house, that's totally okay! Everyone gets one shot at life and if a girl wants to be もっと見る like Snow White and less like Mulan, there is absolutely nothing wrong with that. ディズニー 映画 are made for entertainment with some life lessons thrown in there, but they're not meant to be scripts for your life.

あなた can still be kind like Snow White and still 登録する the Army like Mulan. または be too trusting like Aurora and still stand up for what あなた believe in like Pocahontas. あなた can be the one taking care of the household every 日 like シンデレラ and still not need a man in your life like Elsa. Be whoever あなた are and live your life the way あなた want to; it doesn't matter if あなた happen to be もっと見る like Snow White and less like Mulan. And don't let anyone tell あなた differently.

1. How does it feel to be ファン of the Month?
I was ファン of the 月 once a long time 前 and while back then it was a bit of a shock this time, it's not that surprising :) I don't mean that in a self-centered way, comparing to how active I was in the past to now, I like to think I'm somewhat well-known for a ton of users here like KataraLover または sunnyfields. I'm honored to be the first ファン of the 月 since it has been brought back.

2. Who is your お気に入り princess and why?
My お気に入り princess is ムーラン because I used to relate to not being good enough for my family and wanted to do something...

Today's rewatch: The Little Mermaid: Ariel's Beginning
Last time watched: 2008

How much did I like this movie as a kid?

I didn't. Like, at all. In fact, after we see how Ariel's mom died that was it for me. Okay, so let me start from the beginning; If you've read my 記事 about TLM and TLM 2, あなた know that TLM is one of my most お気に入り 映画 and was a huge part of my childhood so when I was 15 years old I found out that there was going to be another movie of course I was excited!...

Snow White

Snow White is well known for her kindness and optimism — both of which act as her greatest strengths, as they've guided her safely through the various hardships faced throughout her life. She is quick to charm, winning the trust and admiration of the Prince, forest animals, and the Seven Dwarfs rather quickly, proving her kindness and pleasant aura makes her a beloved figure. Coined as the "Fairest One of All", Snow White's beauty lies both within her physical appearance and pure heart. With no negativity within her, Snow...

Personally, I thought Mena did a great job for the most part, but アラジン was changed from being a confident smooth talker to a socially awkward dork (and I mean dork in a nice way). The original アラジン had a couple awkward moments where he stumbled over the right words または 発言しました the wrong thing but they barely happened. Remake アラジン suddenly became incredibly awkward at the drop of the hat at one point in the movie. Some people probably...

After all that waiting here's the results of the first Old vs New survey, Sleeping Beauty vs Maleficent! Some people say he's forgettable but I think people automatically dismiss him just because he's not dramatic, theatrical and "hammy" like other ディズニー villains. I personally think he's pretty badass and ruthless.

Shan Yu is actually kind of similar to ムーラン in that while everyone agrees that they both do remarkable things, some people think their personalities are on the boring side but I think it's unfair to dismiss any princess who isn't overtly dreamy, bubbly または feisty in some way (Mulan) and any villain who isn't over the 上, ページのトップへ and in your face (Shan Yu) as boring. There are other ways to...

Hi guys, this 一覧 is something like the K-Pop 一覧 that I made previously. Only this time, it's their Japanese counterparts. Ready?

1) Moonlight Densetsu (DALI)

Taken from the 人気 Japanese anime, Sailor Moon. This song has always been part of my childhood and being a Die-Hard Sailor Moon fan, the princess will support them, especially on International Women's Day!

2) Shunken Sentimental (Scandal)

This is the first time that I'm listening to it, and while doing so, I notice that it sounds like some of Paramore's songs. In particularly, Misery Business.

3) Hitohira No Hanabira (Stereopony)

Well, I'm here to 表示する my reasons why I like Frozen’s Princess Anna (who is hated によって some and loved によって others). But, let's go to my reasons:
First that she is an active and emotionally strong character (yes, she may not fight with swords または bows like Merida または ムーラン that are among my favorites, または have ice powers like Elsa), but she did admirable things throughout the movie like going after her sister who was isolated (even though she knew she could die from her uncontrollable powers または lost/hungry/frozen) and did not give up on her when she asked for it. And I admire this type of female...
