The last episode "STAND によって ME" (love the タイトル btw) just screamed BAMON and STELENA. It's amazing. What I think, and what the episode tries to 表示する IMO, is that Stefan will be the one to help Elena find her humanity back while Damon will be the one to help Bonnie from killing 12 innocent people and help her find her mind back.
