Sending A Letter

December 19, 1952

Hawkeye: Goodnight Metal Gloss.
Metal Gloss: Goodnight Hawkeye.
Hawkeye: *Sits at table* Ah. *grabs pencil, and paper* Dear Father. How are you? It's been a while since I got your last message, and I decided to write back to you. December 23, 1947

Pete: Alright everypony it's two days until Christmas. We've gotta work out hardest.
Honey: Why must we get the most amount of passengers, and freight on holidays?
Pete: There's no use in complaining. Get to work.
Hawkeye: Sir?
Pete: What? Oh yeah, you're the new worker. What can I help あなた with?
Hawkeye: What do あなた want me to do?
Pete: Just work in the train yard, that's all.
Hawkeye: Ok. *Walks to train yard*
Percy: *Walks to Hawkeye* こんにちは Pierce.
Hawkeye: Hello Percy. What are あなた working on?
Percy: Fixing track as usual. Me, and Jeff have to go into Colorado to repair a mainline.
Hawkeye: Good luck. I have to push freight cars down the hump in a train yard.
Percy: That's not bad.
Hawkeye: Yeah, but I want to drive an actual train on a mainline, and not be in the yards all day.
Percy: You're a new worker. One of these days when you're not new, あなた can drive a train on the mainline.
Hawkeye: *Sighs, and walks away*

Upon arrival at the train yard, Red Rose saw Hawkeye.

Red Rose: Mr. Hawkins?
Hawkeye: Yeah?
Red Rose: My name is Red Rose, I don't think we met before.
Hawkeye: I can't say we have.
Red Rose: Good, because now I can say it's great to meet you.
Hawkeye: *Looks at Red Rose* Yeah *walks to engine*
Red Rose: Wait, *Flies to Hawkeye* あなた know what to do?
Hawkeye: I've done it before, so yes.
Red Rose: Ok. *Flies back to signalbox*
Hawkeye: *Climbs in engine* Here we go again. Same boring job, in the same boring yards. *Shoveling coal*
Red Rose: *Turns signal green*
Hawkeye: What? I don't have enough steam in this thing! *Pushes lever*

The freight cars moved very slow.

Red Rose: Pierce, go faster.
Hawkeye: I'm trying! *Pushes lever further* Ugh, wheel spin *Pulls lever*
Red Rose: あなた still need to go faster.
Hawkeye: *Sighs* Ok. *shovels もっと見る coal*

After shoveling もっと見る coal into the firebox, Hawkeye got the freight cars moving.

Hawkeye: Now this is もっと見る like it. *sits back*
Red Rose: *Looking at train* You're going a little too fast.
Hawkeye: *gently applies brakes*
Worker: *Uncouples chemical car* Wait a minute. That chemical car is going too fast! *Chasing chemical car*
Red Rose: Attention, we have a out of control chemical car in the yard.
Hawkeye: *Stops train* Ugh. I hope this never happens again.
Worker: *Jumps on car* Ok, now to apply the brakes *Breaks brake* AAAHH!! *Goes to alternative brakes* This car must stop *Applying alternative brakes* Don't crash, please!!

The chemical car slowly went towards a locomotive, and stopped.

Worker: Ah, thank goodness. For a moment I thought the car was going to expl-

The chemical car explodes

Worker: *Flying in air* AAAAAAAGGGHHHH!!
Red Rose: Well, so much for that pony. Can this 日 get any worse?
Pete: *Arrives* Where's Pierce?
Hawkeye: Right here sir.
Pete: Alright. I've got important news. A bunch of gangsters have derailed one of our trains. We need あなた to send a breakdown train there immediately.
Red Rose: Sir, we sold our breakdown train.
Pete: What?! Why?
Red Rose: We're the Union Pacific, these things never happen.
Engineer: *Derails passenger train*
Hawkeye: I'll do my best Pete.
Pete: Good. Now get going, and wait for Jeff. He's a unicorn, so he'll be able to cast a spell on the derailed train, and get it back on the tracks.
Hawkeye: あなた got it.

Hawkeye got in an inspection car, and went to the derailed train. It was on Archer Hill.

Hawkeye: Ok. Where's Jeff?
Percy: *Arrives in another inspection car* Hawkeye, what are あなた doing here?
Hawkeye: Pete sent me. Is there a unicorn named Jeff anywhere?
Jeff: *Next to Percy* That's me.
Hawkeye: Good. Pete sent me to help clear the mess, and he told me to wait for you.
Jeff: Right. Let's get this train back on the tracks.

Jeff, Percy, and Hawkeye continued getting the train back onto the tracks.

Jeff: *Using magic* Almost got it.
Percy: You're doing good.
Hawkeye: *sees three ponies walking towards them* Seems like our work is attracting a crowd.
Percy: *Sees ponies* Those are the ones that derailed this train.
Gangsters: *grab guns*
Hawkeye: They got guns!
Gangsters: *Shooting near Percy*
Percy: Get the revolver under your seat.
Hawkeye: There's a revolver under here? What kind of a railroad is this? *Grabs revolver*
Percy: Just do it.
Hawkeye: *Shoots three gangsters*
Jeff: *Gets entire train back on tracks*
Hawkeye: We did it.
Percy: あなた were great shooting those gangsters. あなた had a hawkeye when it came to shooting them.
Hawkeye: Hawkeye, hm? That should be my nickname.
Percy: あなた got it Pierce. I'll go tell Pete right away.

When they return to Cheyenne

Pete: Well Pierce, Percy tells me あなた saved him, and Jeff from those gangsters that derailed the train.
Hawkeye: Yes sir.
Pete: He also tells me that あなた wanted your nickname to be Hawkeye.
Hawkeye: Yeah.
Pete: Well, congratulations Hawkeye. Tomorrow, あなた get to drive a passenger train to Los Pegasus.
Hawkeye: Thank あなた sir.
Pete: And あなた can just call me Pete.
Hawkeye: Thank あなた Pete.

December 20, 1952

I got my クリスマス wish. I wanted to drive a train on the mainline, and that's what I got to do.

Signed, Hawkeye.

When Hawkeye finished his letter, Metal Gloss arrived.

Metal Gloss: Pierce, it's time to go home.
Hawkeye: Ok. Thank あなた for telling me. Let's go.
