Zayn Malik is said to be working tirelessly in the studio on his first solo music AND WE\'VE NEVER BEEN MORE READY.

As Simon Cowell fires shots about his departure from One Direction and Naughty Boy continues to dwell over the termination (FANCY) of their friendship, Zayn Malik is apparently busting out the tunes over in LA - and is \'really happy\' with the results.

Our hearts will always be heavy about his decision to leave 1D, but at this point our earholes are chomping at the bit (that is a disgusting saying really, isn\'t it?) to hear el Maliko\'s solo stuff.  PLS ZAYN HURRY UP.

According to The Sun, a friend of Zayn\'s - who has heard the new music - reckons he\'s looking forward to taking former bandmates Harry Styles, Liam Payne, Louis Tomlinson and Niall Horan on in the charts, and is hoping to stay in America full time. 

"He hasn\'t hung around with making his first solo music and he\'s really happy with the results," they explained. 

"The set-up may be basic but it sounds like a mix between The Weeknd and Frank Ocean. He\'s really excited about releasing it and has said how he can\'t wait to take on his former bandmates in the charts.

"His biggest qualm in One Direction was always the fact that no one took his music seriously, so he wants to prove he\'s more than just a former boy band singer."

"Zayn is obsessed with America," the source continued. "He is looking to stay permanently so he wants to be a success there. 

"His plans for launching his new music include visiting several major US cities, playing just one song in each, to showcase his work."
