I covered my eyes with my hands, even though they were already covered によって my sunglasses. A mob of people were shouting at the district attorney's office, demanding the Nightfury to be arrested.
"Is it that bad?" I whimpered.
"I don't know how to answer that," Roy 発言しました casually.
I sighed and shoved my hands in my pockets. "Don't あなた see, Roy? I ruined these people's lives!" I looked at my reflection in the ショップ window. Behind the sunglasses and hoodie, I could see the horrible demon hiding inside of me.
Compared to me, Roy looked like an エンジェル without his mask. He smiled encouragingly.
I felt a tap on my shoulder, and turned around.
A woman with an "Arrest the Nightfury" sign handed me a banner with my face on it. "Help spread the word, hon!"
I opened it. A large red X was drawn across my face.
"Arrest the Nightfury!" the woman walked away shouting.
I had to fight the urge to burn the banner. "Something has to be done," I muttered.
"But for right now, あなた have to keep a low profile," Roy instructed. "We can't expose the team to Gotham."
I sighed. "Let's go." We walked away from the protesters, headed back to my house. All around us was destruction. It was hard to believe that I did all of this.
Out of the corner of my eye, a homeless man sat on the sidewalk, staring at his empty coin cup.
Without thinking, I walked to him and dropped a dollar in the cup. "What happened?"
He looked at me with sad brown eyes. "I ロスト my ホーム when the Nightfury attacked."
Roy pulled me up. "Come on, Jenny."
I was relieved that he couldn't see the tears behind my sunglasses.
I had thought that a walk would clear my mind, but instead it filled it up. The homeless man kept popping up in my head.
Things got worse once Roy left for work. I couldn't handle being left alone, what with my siblings living in a new house because I had told them to.
I went against my better judgment and turned the TV on. Lucky for me, the newscast was NOT about me.
The camera was focused on a white faced man in a purple suit, standing on 上, ページのトップへ of a flipped over Sedan.
I leaned closer. "The Joker?!" His thumb was wavering over a red button. I could hear a faint beeping from the city.
"That's a bomb!" I realized. I grabbed a ジャケット and stuffed my shoes on my feet, ignoring that my outfit wasn't matching.
What the hell are あなた doing? My subconscious yelled.
"I'm saving Gotham," I answered to no one. "Even if it kills me."
But what about Roy? And Chris? What will they think?
"I don't know," I whispered, already flying.
"I'm on my own this time."
"Is it that bad?" I whimpered.
