CHAPTER 1
Jason Card sat at his 机, デスク in his science classroom bored out of his mind. He hated science. It was his least お気に入り subject. Mainly because it was the last subject of the 日 and によって that time Jason was usually ready to go home.
Mr. Form droned on and on about chemicals または something. Jason didn’t listen. He just sat at his 机, デスク and drew on some paper. He was a very good drawer.
Jason Card was a fourteen 年 old as of yesterday. His black messy hair never gave in to a brush which usually meant it was mangled and messy and went down to his ears. He was wearing a simple red t-shirt and jeans. His brown eyes were inquisitive and always looking for the 回答 and they usually found it.
Jason wasn’t a bully nor was he a goody two shoes, and no bully would dream of picking on him. He usually just floated through the classes getting grades enough to pass, but not enough to impress his parents.
His adoption parents he should say. He and his parents had been very close till Avery came along. He changed everything. As soon as they had a son of their own he became old fashioned and old news. He had even run away twice before but was always caught によって the cops.
“Excuse me Mr. Card?” Mr. Form called. Jason looked up with an annoyed look at first, but seeing who it was quickly wiped it away.
“Uh, yes sir?” he asked, quickly putting away his drawing.
“You will stay after class Mr. Card. One hour,” he said. Jason nodded and slumped into his chair as the ベル rang. “Test tomorrow don’t forget.”
Jason stayed put in his chair and thought how much he wanted to run outside and get his usual end-of-school-for-a-day-soda. He yearned for a mountain dew, but mostly a coke. His throat felt so dry. He looked down to get his notebook when he noticed a コーラ sitting there.
Maybe one of the kids left it, he thought. He bent down and picked it up. Ice cold. That was too cold for a kid to have left it. Mr. Form looked up and frowned.
“Where did あなた get that?” he asked. Jason shrugged and replied,
“It was on the floor sir I swear.” He drew in a sharp breath. Mr. Form wasn’t an ugly man, nor was he a good looking man. He was a short man only slightly heavy, with a bushy mustache and electric blue eyes. His grey suit and red tie were neatly ironed along with his grey pants. Jason never understood why he wore that. Mr. Form stoked his mustache in thought.
“Sir, do あなた think I could drink it?” Jason asked. Mr. Form took a quick stiff nod then went back to thinking. The 時 went によって without any もっと見る weird happenings and Jason was eager to get out of the classroom.
“Jason?” he called. Jason looked back reluctantly.
“Yes sir?” he asked.
“Have a good day.” Jason looked confused but he nodded and thanked the teacher. He never understood teachers sometimes. Jason got on his bike and rode ホーム reluctantly. He was very reluctant to tell his mom what happened.
Normally the ride took him ten 分 but today he took half an 時 to get home. Ten 分 of that lying on the shoulders of a train.
Jason walked in and sat down at the 表, テーブル with his mom. She of course didn’t look up. She just kept working. His parents didn’t give him the time of the 日 anymore. Grabbing his back pack he headed upstairs and walked into his room.
Jason’s room always looked like a tornado hit it, but he walked through his feet moving themselves through the plethora of clothes, 食 boxes, and dishes. He dropped his backpack in its chair so as to be ready for tomorrow, then plunked down onto the ベッド and turned on the TV just as Avery walked in.
Jason uttered a silent grown as Avery walked in with a smile on his face. Avery was ten years old and he was a brat. A spoiled one too.
“Hi Jason, あなた wanna play battleship?” he asked.
“No,” Jason 発言しました flipping through the channels. Avery didn’t take that as an answer and asked three もっと見る time then got angry.
He faked a cry of pain and yelled downstairs, “Mom, I stepped on a sharp thing in Jason’s room!” Jason would have made the brat see stars if his mom had not appeared in the doorway with arms open.
“Come here baby,” she said. Avery ran to her and hopped into her embrace. He faked cried. Mom told him to go to his room and turn on a movie, also promising チョコレート chip クッキー tomorrow. After Avery was gone she turned to Jason. “Clean this room up before poor Avery trips in here and breaks his neck!”
“Yeah, that would be a tragedy,” Jason muttered.
“What did あなた say?” she snapped. Jason rolled his eyes and faked an innocent voice.
“I said, oh that would be terrible. If poor Avery broke his neck, who would あなた spoil?”
Her eyes narrowed and she walked out of the room with a final, “Clean it up.” Jason rolled his eyes and slammed his door.
Before he could sit down however a knock came from the door. Groaning he opened the door to Avery. Avery slipped under him and sat down on the ベッド with a large smile on his face.
“What do あなた want brat?” Jason asked. Avery tsk tsked.
“Mom 発言しました not to call me that,” he said. Jason had reached his limit. He grabbed Avery によって the シャツ and covered his mouth.
“Listen あなた little spoiled no good brat. Either tell me what あなた want または get out of my room. And if あなた tell mom about this, you’ll be twenty one before あなた wake up from your coma.” He gulped and nodded.
“I just wanted to ask if I could borrow the speed racer movie,” he said. Jason dropped him and picked up the speed racer movie.
“Here,” he 発言しました throwing it to him.
“Thanks,” he said, hurried out of the room closing it behind him. Turning his attention back to the TV he began to brood over his emotions for Avery. He wished he never existed. Avery ストール, 盗んだ Jason’s mother away from him. He pictured Avery in his mind tripping and falling down the stairs and breaking his leg and arm. He smiled viciously wanting it to be happen.
He suddenly heard a loud cry of pain, and his mother’s scream of panic. He opened the door quickly and looked down to see Avery at the bottom of the stairs crying about his leg and arm.
What? thought Jason. Did I do that? No he couldn’t have. That only happened in 映画 with wizards and stuff. He walked back into his room and swore he saw a shadow in his window but it passed quickly.
“Jason!” his mother shouted. “Get down here!” Jason walked back outside and nearly slipped on the water puddle on the stairs. Actually he did slip, but he grabbed hold of the rail.
His mother scoffed. “Quit horsing around and come help me,” she ordered. Alright, Jason was officially mad now.
“Why should I?” he asked. She looked at him with an angry expression.
“Cause I 発言しました so, and I’m your mother.”
Jason laughed a fake laugh. “You aren’t my mother. Once your precious Avery came into the picture I was a nobody. Just a burden to bare. Well あなた know what, あなた can キッス this burden goodbye!”
Jason stormed upstairs and emptied his backpack of his school things. He filled it instead with clothes, drinks and 食 from the little refrigerator in his room. Not wanting to pass the thing at the bottom of the stairs he opened his window and jumped out. His descent seemed to slow as he hit the ground with only a soft thud.
Jason walked over to the shed and opened it. He grabbed his adoption father’s keys and pulled out his fake motorcycle license. He grabbed a ヘルメット and kicked it into gear speeding down the road.
Goodbye pain in the butts, he thought as he sped down the road.

Me and Those
Ever noticed that in this life
Everyone wants あなた to do something,
または be something
That sometimes あなた don’t want to be?
They are those!
あなた know them!
あなた probably have those in your house.
They are those who expect あなた to take a path,
Even though,
Sometimes,
あなた don’t want to take.
They are those who expect あなた to be great,
Even though,
Sometimes,
あなた prefer to be small and humble.
But do あなた think,
For the slightest second,
That they care about that?
They don’t!
They are your parents,
Your grandparents,
Your Uncles and aunts,
That since あなた were born,
Came up with a path for あなた in life.
But know this,
And say it to yourself:
They are those, they matter,
But me is I,
And I’m the main character.
Sitting right where あなた are
あなた have no claim on me
I know my own path
I am my own guide
あなた are nothing to me
No matter how あなた try
What do あなた care?
If I'm not doing it right
I'm not following you
I know my own path
I am my own guide
あなた don't know me
No matter how あなた try
Why are あなた here?
あなた know I don't want you
I told あなた to leave me
I am my own path
I know my own guide
あなた can't mold me
No matter how あなた try
Why do I feel compelled to write angsty poetry? I swear I'm not even that angsty. lol Oh well, I hope someone out there enjoys it.
A whisper in the cavern that goes unheard,
and a glimmer in the sky that stays unnoticed,
like the start of a brand new life, at the peak
of a mountain never scaled, lies in wait.
It can't be moved によって any cosmic mover,
so no passing wind または fog will douse it.
Only your eyes can scratch out the image
または accept it, the light at the edge of your eyes.
Will あなた take hold of the key you're offered?
Stop 歌う of freedom; seek it instead?
To become a companion of the new
takes an ever expanding, soaring gaze.
But even によって taking one step forward,
によって placing one hand onto the mountain,
as the wind tugs gently at your back,
あなた will realize the cage has already been broken.
