The two small 子猫 cried out feebly. Their mother a young, beautiful tortoiseshell she-cat set them down and curled around them. she licked their small heads then washed herself. the 子猫 had been born the 日 before, and their eyes should open very soon. their mother pushed them closer to her stomach with her skinny tail. Her usually beautiful spotted pelt was dirty and her paws were sore from walking so far. She realized she had never named the kits. The spotted she-cat looked down at the two kits. She touched the tortoiseshell she-cat
"Splash" she said. Then she touched the other little she-cat a small white she-cat
"Snow" she 発言しました her voice barely a whisper. She curled around them and fell to sleep as snow started to make it's way down to Earth.
Later she awoke. Time to keep moving, she hoisted herself to her paws and picked up Splash and Snow, then she kept on moving. She was looking for a 安全, 安全です place for her and her kits, and they had not found one yet. All the places they stumbled across barely had enough prey to feed three kits. The tortoiseshell's legs were frigid but she had to keep on moving, her kits depended on her. later in the 日 a blizzard came and suprised the tortoiseshell, she had just eaten a scrawny shrew and had just hunted two mice as the snow began to fall. She found a small crevice under a rock and her and her kits camped under there for the 次 two days. The 次 日 the tortoiseshell awoke, the kits were gone and all that was left was some patches of fur.

After moons of traveling The journeying ネコ get back from the Tribe. When they get ホーム ivypool tells Dovewing about the black cat in the tunnels Jayfeather overhears this and asks Ivypool about the cat. Later that Night Ivypool Jayfeather Lionblaze and Dovewing go to the tunnels to look. When they get to the tunnels Lionblaze tells Dovewing to spread her sense's Dovewing sense's two ネコ and sees a black cat with green eyes paddling through the tunnels. As the ネコ walk on they find Hollyleaf alone によって the river she jumps up as her brothers come up. Her brothers convince her to come back and fight the dark forest cats. They also tell Hollyleaf about Dovewing and the fourth cat prophecy. Hollyleaf agrees to just forget about Leafpool and she goes for the sake of her brothers and the prophecy.
