Guys, I am utterly sorry. MacNurse11 is right. Jacob does know that Kayla was bitten. Sorry. When I was 書く the chapter this morning I did look to see whether Jacob knew but I couldn’t find it at all in my prequel folder. So I assumed he didn’t. I have written a tonne of these and あなた lot should know so I am allowed to get confused as to what has already happened. I have rewritten the chapter but don’t worry. Jacob not knowing now wasn’t a significant thing, it just made the story drag longer. Now that I know that he does things are much もっと見る easier.

So here it is, re-edited Chapter 13.




Edward held onto me tightly. His arms wound around me waist and his hands interlocking with mine. I was sitting on his lap on the sofa in the living-room. Mitchell and Charlie were in the kitchen, discussing plans and strategies. It felt weird sitting here in Edward’s arms when I knew my life was in danger. I didn’t feel scared または panicky, I just felt normal.
“I have exams on Monday,” I 発言しました to Edward.
“Is that all あなた can think about?” Edward asked me. “There’s a guy out to torture and kill あなた and あなた think about your exams?”
“Edward, if I worried about every person that was out to kill me I wouldn’t have a life.”
“Well, since you’re not bothered about Loren trying to kill あなた maybe あなた can think about my proposal.”
“Your proposal?” I twisted around in his lap so I was facing him.
“Before Loren and Mitchell interrupted I had asked あなた to marry me.”
I wish I could have 発言しました that I had forgotten about that but I hadn’t. Yes, Mitchell and Loren had taken up a big part of my mind but Edward’s proposal had been lurking there, reminding me of its presence.
“I have thought about it,” I said, slowly. “But I don’t know if this is the right time, Edward.”
“Are あなた rejecting me?” Edward asked, hurt.
“No, no, no.” I kissed the tip of his nose. “I am not rejecting you. What I meant was, should we really be discussing marriage when I haven’t graduated from high school and someone is trying to kill me. I mean, there will have to be bodyguards and everything at the wedding.”
“We don’t have to get married right now,” he said. “You can’t get married until あなた turn eighteen. And によって 次 April I’m sure this little mess will have been cleared up.”
“Little mess?” I said, incredulous. “This guy is trying to kill me and my father! How is it a little mess?”
“Loren is completely harmless, Mitchell 発言しました so.”
Edward was right. Without Mitchell, Loren was powerless. But that didn’t mean there weren’t other Jenzis that would happily kill Charlie and me. But it didn’t hurt to have something to look フォワード, 前進, 楽しみにして to in the mean time. I did want to marry Edward. It wasn’t something I had dreamed of because Edward would be able to see and that would be embarrassing but it was something I had thought about. And another thing I had thought about was Alice. She would 愛 this.
Edward kissed me softly. It was a reassuring kiss, to let me know that he would always be there for me. I hated it when his kisses ended.
“So あなた are going to marry me?” he asked, his cool breath washing over me.
“Yes,” I said, dreamily. Dazzling によって Edward Cullen seemed to happen daily to me.
“Then you’ll need this.” He pulled something out of the inside pocket of his jacket. It was small and in a black box. My eyes widened when I saw it.
“Alice told me that あなた I would ask あなた unexpectedly,” Edward said, smiling. “She said, I should be prepared.”
“You knew I would say yes?” I asked, eyeing the box.
“No, Alice couldn’t tell me that. あなた were so uncertain, she said.”
He opened the box and a diamond ring sat in black velvet.
“It’s beautiful,” I gasped.
“Alice was sure あなた would 愛 that,” Edward chuckled. He took the ring from the velvet and gently slid it on my left ring finger. I looked at the ring on my finger from different angles and smiled when it glittered and sparkled.
“It’s just like you,” I said. “It’s beautiful and glitters in the light.”
“It’s also cold and hard.”
“Don’t be so negative.” I hit him playfully. “I 愛 it and I 愛 you.”
He kissed me again, dazzling me within seconds. If only every 日 I could be kept in this dazzled state, protected from anything dangerous. Life would be so much simpler.
I leaned フォワード, 前進, 楽しみにして to キッス him when his nostrils flared and he snarled quietly.
“What is it?” I began to panic, thinking that Loren had come back with an army of little minions.
“The dog.” Edward 発言しました sourly.
I unlaced one hand and flicked Edward on the nose.
“Stop calling him that,” I said, sternly. “I told him not to call あなた leech または bloodsucker so あなた don’t call him dog.”
Edward just rolled his eyes at me.
“You better go see to him.”
He let me go, reluctantly and I hurried to the door. I opened it and Jacob stood there, all six foot seven inches of him.
“Hey!” I said, brightly.
Jacob grinned at me.
“You sound rather cheerful,” he replied. “What’s happening? Have they caught the guy?”
“No, but there’s other things that have made me happy.”
“Like me arriving here?” Jacob said, cheekily.
“Of course, you’re the highlight of my day.”
A snarl from the living-room sent Jacob into a fit of laughter.
“He doesn’t think so,” he said, through his laughs.
I giggled.
“He’s just a little uptight. He doesn’t like me in danger.”
“You in danger?” Jacob asked, sceptically. “He is constantly with you, glued to your side. How can あなた be in any danger?”
“That is true,” I said, smiling. “Charlie’s in the キッチン already discussing battle plans.”
I stepped to the side and let Jacob in. He was still standing in the hallway when I closed the door.
“Is something wrong, Jacob?”
His deep brown eyes were watching me thoughtfully. I wanted to know what he was thinking but I didn’t want to go barging into his mind uninvited.
“Did あなた tell me the truth, Kayla?” he asked me. “When あなた told me あなた were bitten によって that male vampire, did あなた tell me the truth?”
“Of course I did!” I said, incredulous. “Do あなた think I lied about that? Do あなた want to see the scar?”
I held my wrist up to his eyes but he looked straight past it to my eyes.
“I’m not talking about if あなた were bitten,” he said, pushing my hand away. “I’m talking about if it was that male vampire that bit you, not someone else.”
“Why would I want someone to bite me? Don’t あなた know that I can die if a vampire bites me?”
“But what if あなた didn’t want them to bite あなた though but they just did?”
“And you’re saying I staged the whole vampire tracking me thing just to cover for another vampire?”
“No,” he said, smiling. “That I know is true. It’s just あなた smell so much like him.”
“Like who?”
“Edward.”
Then it clicked. What Jacob was trying to say. He thought that Edward had bitten me and to cover for him I 発言しました that Jared had bitten me.
“Don’t あなた believe what I had said?” I asked.
“I did,” he said. “But I’ve been thinking and maybe Edward did bite you.”
That was Edward’s cue to 登録する in. He was standing in front of me and glaring up at Jacob in less than two seconds.
“Are あなた calling her a liar, mutt?” he snarled at Jacob.
“Edward, please, I can handle this.” I pushed Edward to the side and I looked up at Jacob. “If I had a choice as to who would bite me that day, between Jared and Edward, I would have chosen Edward. I would rather have Edward’s venom in my bloodstream than Jared’s but I didn’t have a choice. Edward didn’t bite me and it’s not his venom that’s keeping me alive for eternity アナと雪の女王 at sixteen.”
“Hasn’t he told you, Kayla?” Jacob said, his voice slightly mocking.
“Told me what?” I looked at Edward but Edward was watching Jacob.
“Keep your mouth shut, pup,” Edward snarled.
Jacob hesitated. He looked from me to Edward and back again. He was struggling to decide what to do. Tell me whatever it was I didn’t know または keep his mouth shut like Edward had said.
“You’re not really アナと雪の女王 at sixteen,” Jacob said. He seemed to wince under the death stare Edward gave him when he spoke. “You’re ageing, Kayla.”
