Why are the ヴァンパイア described as ice cold?

Many times in the narrative, Edward and the other ヴァンパイア are described as ice cold. But if that's derived from them being dead with no body heat, shouldn't they be at room temperature only? Then the only time they'd be ice cold would be when it's below freezing. Is it just exaggeration?

Maybe they can't retain heat at all? Throughout the series, they are compared to things like diamond and stone, right? Well, diamonds can't retain heat and stones don't stay warm for long, so it could be that. They aren't mammals either, so it's not like their can regulate their body temperature.

I guess that's possible. I always thought the stone and diamond comparisons were just about the hardness though.

Same here. I never really wondered why they were icy cold, but when あなた asked I started thinking and it's the best I can come up with really.

It's never 発言しました metaphorically, it's literal temperature not describing someone's soul または mental state. Plus rooms inside are higher than 0 C even if there's no direct sunlight.
