Probably but remember he wasnt really 'in' 愛 with Bella...he was just being pulled to the part of her that would later become Renesmee and he couldnt walk away.
Walk away?? C´mon Bella was IN 愛 with him, she didn´t want him to walk way! Why あなた Team Edward girls are always trying to deny Bella LOVED Jacob? I just don´t get it! Have あなた read the 本 at all? She was in 愛 with him. Too. But she always loved Edward もっと見る that´s it :P
So if あなた have read the 本 あなた woudl know Bella 発言しました once that Jacob was right all the time! She really was IN 愛 with him. This is part from an Eclipse chapter: I'd been lying to myself. Jacob was right. He'd been right all along. He was もっと見る than just my friend. That's why it was so impossible to tell him goodbye — because I was in 愛 with him. Too. I loved him, much もっと見る than I should, and yet, still nowhere near enough. I was in 愛 with him, but it was not enough to change anything; it was only enough to hurt us both more. To hurt him worse than I ever had. I didn't care about もっと見る than that — than his pain. I もっと見る than deserved whatever pain this caused me.
Bella didn´t want him to back off! Bella always need Jacob Yeah everyone knows that she always loved Edward もっと見る but she loved Jacob too! She need him.. もっと見る than Jacob needed her in my opinion...

It's partially Bella's fault. She didn't want him to completely back off which made him think that there was a chance he could get her to 愛 him もっと見る than Edward. I give him リスペクト for trying, I mean he did 愛 her.
