OK! First off, I'd just like to begin with a HUGE spoiler! I will have had to wait 2 and a half years (including TLH sample chapters)to see Percy and Annabeth together again. 2 and a half. Years.

Sorry. Moving on.

My thoughts on the book:
-Amazing, as expected of course! I did get a bit bored toward the middle, but that was mostly because I really wanted to get to the end and see if the Argo II was there...so yeah. ;)
- So now we know who everyone is: Dakota (what is up with him?!), Bobby, Gwen, Hazel, Octavian, Reyna...When Reyna 発言しました the thing abouT doesn't Percy remember her, I was like, WHAT?! Where have we seen あなた before Reyna? Talk! And then I had to wait another few chapters before I got the answer, but oh well. :)
-The quest was over all pretty cool! Percy's good at all of these impossible quests he's been givin these past few years. :)
-I loved the backstory for Hazel and Bobby, but it reminded me of Leo a little.

Questions I've been pondering:
- First off: Sammy = Leo is not a proper mathematical equation. That's...not possible! Leo wasn't born is the 1940s または whatever! Maybe he's a descendant of Sammy...? (Props to HecateA if Hazel and Leo DO end up together!)
-Back on page, like, 20 または 30 something, BOOM Achilles curse was gone. And then there's not a word about it for the rest of the book...? RR, we're not going to forget that it's gone, no use trying to hide it!
- I'll tell あなた this, Percy Jackson. The one who will cause あなた the most trouble is the one closest to あなた - the one who hates me most."
"Annabeth?" Percy felt his anger rising again. "You never liked her. Now you're calling her a troublemaker? あなた don't know her at all. She's the person I most want watching my back.

What I learned: Annabeth is important to the series. But what hard task? I have NO ideas that make sense, so feel free to comment! But... did anyone else find it funny that Percy 発言しました that she's the person that he'd want "watching his back." I did. :)

- Octavian...I don't like him. He reminds me too much of Luke. There is no way he is going to make it through this series as a good guy.

-Could Reyna be a, I dunno, threat to Percy and Annabeth's relationship? I mean, it seems like two praetors nearly always get romantically involved, the way she explained it. And Percy's praetor now...will Jason get his spot back?

-Does anyone have any idea what the mark of athena might be?

- Sammy = Leo = Impossible...right?

DoorsofDeath9 ugh. i'm not sure if Annabeth is going to be in the prophecy of 7 or not, because in the book it says that they aregoing to need a "special halfblood" to find the doors of death, and they haven't found them yet. I originally thought Hazel but then I reread and it confuzzled me :S

dancergirl78 Guys, I'm almost certain that the book WILL be about Annabeth. Near the end of the Son of Neptune, in Percy's dream, Juno said "She has a hard task ahead of her when you arrive in Rome. Whether she is up to it...I do not know." So obviously the book will be about her, plus it's titled Mark of Athena. So don't worry, even if Annabeth is not one of the 7, she'll still play a big part of the book. Oh yeah, and seriously people, she won't die. Rick would never do that to any of the main characters, especially Annabeth. There are 5 books in the series. I doubt that she'd die in the third book.

nicecatch42 wow this article is getting really good now, if any of u remember, some people had a theory that the seven's parents were the seven god names that were associated with olympian week u noe how riordan named each of his destinations? he called one aphrodite and another one poseiden and so on? so, basically, apparently, each of these names represents a seven demigod's parents So, there is Zeus: Jason Hepheastus: Leo Aphrodite: Piper Poseiden: Percy Hades: Hazel Ares: Frank and the last one is Athena so if this theory is correct, then Annabeth is the sevenvth demigod. All clues point to it. im still not sure, though

Odssey @writingnerd13 Im not doubting whether Annabeth will be one of the seven or not but i dont think that Annabeth will be the one to die here. My theory is that it will be Frank. Mars told Frank that he has to make a sacrifice that Percy would never be able to make. He said that without Franks sense of duty he they would all fail. I think that sacrifice is the loss of one of his friends at the cost of the world. the fact that Frank was told that he'd die by watching his own piece of wood burn would make more sense about my theory too

LeoV44 @nicecatch42 - Yeah, that's kind of old news. I figured it out several months ago and was the one to predict that Frank is a son of Mars and that Hazel is a daughter of Pluto. Nice catch though. =P

AnnabethC @Safrooney- Maybe it's because they were wearing shoes and didn't actually touh it? :) that's a good question!

luvseaweedbrain 1.Okay so I REEEALLLLLLy think that MoA will be narrated by Annabeth. I also really WANT MoA to be narrated by Annabeth. I mean, she''s like a MAJOR CHARACTER and we've never gotten to see what she thinks. its unfair. lol and if she dies, i will burn the RR book in which she does and pretend it never happened and print HEcates version, use the original book cover, and put it on my shelf with the rest of the series. Unless, of course, Annabeth dies in Hecates story.... 2.Secondlyyy I think Leo is Sammy reborn. LIke BIanca did (sniffsniff) bc i think thats the reason RR brought that up, to remind us abt that so next book he can be all, "LEO IS SAMMY BUT NOT REALLY IM SORRY YOUR HEART IS CRUSHED HAZEL BUT I ALREADY SET YOU UP WIATH A KICK BUT SHAPE SHIFTER SO BE QUIET" .umm yeah. thats all. 3. And if Annabeth isn''t part of the seven, that doesn't mean she can't still go to Greece/Rome whatevrer. I mean, she wasnt the Great Prophecy girl (which might have been really awesome, but a lot more boring seeing as she would have done it all right the first time lol jk back to my long boring guessing) but she still went everywhere with Percy. So yeah, even if she isn't shes still prob going to go with them. 4. dancergirl78 @luvseaweedbrain I think so too. I mean, we got to see the perspective of Percy, Jason, Piper, Leo, Hazel, and Frank, but we never get to see Annabeth's perspective. I really hope Rick writes it in Annabeth's POV.

iamawesome77 Annabeth, Percy, Frank, Hazel, Jason, Piper, and Leo=The Seven. There is a big chance that the Mark of Athena could be in Annabeth's POV. But RR always finds a way to shock us all. And that is often. The seventh may not even have memories, like Percy and Jason. And the seventh can very well be someone that isn't even introduced into the series yet, though I hope not. It's just hard to have good predictions with so many loose ends.

greektrickster Hey guys,I just read the SON again and it's as clear as day,Leo is like the great grandson of Sammy or something and here's the proof, 1)Leo's last name is Valdez 2)when Gaia had pulled Percy into the Earth and Hazel was rescuing him,Gaia told her that Sammy had married and had shifted to Texas. If you read TLH again,the chapter in which Leo is going into the forest after Piper is claimed he mentions that he was raised in a apartment in Houston and the wildest things he had seen were a cow in a pasture and his aunt Rosa in a nightgown. Unless I am mistaken Houston is inTexas As for the seven demigods Annabeth would be definitely one of them and in her quest she might have to make some sacrifices which may lead Percy to do something else and Frank to stop him as Mars said ,that is all.

TheNewSeries Leo is the grandson of Sammy. It is logical mathematically but, also, mythologically or by what the book tells us, it makes sense that he would look, if not exactly like him, a great deal like him. In the Lost Hero, it was said that people wouldn't look at them and say, "Hey, it's the Hephaestus bunch." Well, they obviously weren't getting their looks from their godly parent. Because, at least for the other gods, you got black hair or green eyes, like Percy or grey eyes and blonde hair, like Annabeth and the other Athena children. You would probably look at them and say, there's the Athenian bunch or something. But by the way they described it, it seems like all Hephaestus children are different except for being ripped from working the forges. This means they get their looks from the mortal side of the family, if they all look different. They don't have the same mortal families. Therefore, it would make sense if the looks were only passed done two generations with no dominant gene from the father. It's biology people. And we don't know if Esperanza looked a whole lot like her father, but being the generations female, it would make sense, even if Esperanza looks more like her mother. The male genes tend to recede in the female body and then the female genes tend to recede in the male body. However, they don't go away, they stay there and get passed down through the generations. The male gene that Leo received would've probably been from his grandfather, the closest male relative that gave any dominant genes. So, that would be why Leo looks a lot like Sammy. Confused? Well, friend me and I will instant-message you.

TheNewSeries I think what Percy's hard decision to make is not because of Annabeth (though I am not ruling out her death, maybe this drives Percy to want to protect his friends more, I don't know) but with Frank. It was mentioned in SoN that Gaea would rise by Percy's blood. What if Frank has to give up his life by burning the stick, (Leo will light it) to keep Gaea asleep somehow. But if Percy gives up his own life Gaea rises, but Percy wants to protect his friend. Frank's sense of duty, as mentioned in SoN, will stop Percy from sacrificing himself instead and hence, Frank will die holding the burning log. That's what I think will happen at the end of the series. Only the fires of life can stop Gaea from awakening. Fighting life with life. Fire with fire.

Percabethteam I think that the Mark of of Atena is ANNABETH. She went alone in Rome she met Enceladus? (forgot how to spell it) and ANNABETH got hit by the fire from Enceladus' mouth while fighting him in Rome? Wisdom's daugther alone. The Mark of Athena burns through Rome.

Starlight1o1 I think TheNewSeries's theory is plausable because in the great prophecy it said something like to storm or fire the world will fall and that would fit in with the theory of Frank using his life force to seal Gaea away since the wood would have to burn to be used.

greekgirlA ok. i think that the "mark of Athena" has nothing to do with annabeth.and, i think annabeth will be the traitor in this series.and i like Octavian.he may be Luke in rebirth?he did say and i quote on memory,"no,the Ilse of the Blessed.that's the place for heroes."that's my memory so...and ya if someone already said this,i did not read too long. and this is all only my opinion so don't bitch me because of my next statement. i once made up a story,told it,and wanted to make another.that is the way it is.as long as the character lives,you fell the need to tell,in this case write,more.so,either he will write one/two more series(like combining Egypt in this or with Norse) to end it on a sappy note,or,i prefer this one, kill Percy.he is a little Mary sue.i think to truly end this series,rr will have to have the ultimit closer for percy.

Aggie89 Ok so Leo has to be Sammys grandson my reasons why 1.Gaea tells Hazel Sammy moved to Texas Leo's from Houston (for those who dont Houston is the largest city in TEXAS)and Leo says to the Ice goddess that what happens to snow in TEXAS it freakin melts inpling he's from Texas. 2.They look alike my brother looks just likke our grandfather did. 3.They have the same last name as Percy says when ur a demigod nothings a coinceedent(sorry for bad spellig on nook) Onto another Leo related issue Hazel/Frank or Hazel/Leo.Its Hazel/Leo 1.Franks dead. Percys been told time and time again he will be forced to make a choice he cant. Percys fatal flaw loyal to his friend Franks a friend . Franks also been told he will life will burn short and bright and he will watch his stick burnaas he dies he is a dead man. 2. Hazel still love Sammy and then BOOM who better than Leo to take his place. 3.All throughout TLH Leos falling in and out of love with girls by the end of the series he will have a girlfriend. My next is #7 I think its Annabeth*crosses fingers*or Renya but there both coming on the Argo 2. Then thers Octavian Ithink he is the tratior in the series. 1.Everyones saying he is a faithful Roman.Uh no he possiably most likely stabed Gwen in the back not very Roman blackmails hazel what happened to being selfless??Gives Percy a crappy boat again selfless? He wanted them to fail. 2.Hates Greeks wont work with them. 3.Preator he wanted that and didnt get it. Hes power hungry Geaea makes him leader of her army BOOM bye bye Octavian. 4. His name.

number1pjfan Well Annabeth has to be the 7th because Rick really described the Greeks well but we know almost nothing about the romand except for Reyna, Hazel, Frank, barely Dakota and Gwen. He would not put someone in that we barely know and who better than Annabeth? Plus there's the wisdoms daughter stuff but Reyna's a daughter of Bellatona.

writingnerd13 @greekgirlA Okay, not to sound mean or anything, but if you knew anything about Annabeth, you'd know that she would NEVER be a traitor. Just because Juno said that Annabeth would cause trouble on the quest does not mean that she'll turn out to be a traitor. She's way too faithful to Percy, Camp Half-Blood, and her friends. Two, if RR killed Percy, that'd be a pretty sucky way to end the series and I don't think it would settle well with his fans, including me.

RisingTides_99 OK so i just realized something that changed my thought of the 7 heroes of the prophecy, cuz the prophecy said “WISDOM'S DAUGHTER WALKS ALONE,. The Mark of Athena burns through Rome. so if annabeth is the wisdom daughter then isn't she supposed to walk alone which would mean she cant go on the quest with everyone. so who else could go with them, maybe Reyna or they save nico and he comes along, and if they save nico he might have valuable info about Gaeas plans. who knows?? RR has always managed to surprise me so i am really excited(like every other percy jackson fan!)

She'll really be a problem for Piper and Jason. She's aid in the beginning of SoN that her and Jason were "getting to" being romantically linked, and since Jason now has this thing with Piper that Reyna is unaware of, she will be hurt mad or confused. Jason will probably feel confused as well because he doesn't really have a full on relationship with either of them yet. The seven Demigods: I know 100% that Frank, Hazel, Percy, Piper and Jason will be there, but I still am not sure on Annabeth. I feel she will be because of Juno/Hera talking about how she'll have a problem in Rome, and she'll only be in Rome if she's on the quest. Annabeth being sacrificed??: I've never even thought about this before but I think that she won't be sacrificed. On multiple occasions, Percy has been told his fatal flaw is too loyal to his friends, especially Annabeth. If the time came for her to be sacrificed, he would jump in and die in her place because he loved her too much. Leo/Sammy: I think that Sammy will be Leo's grandfather on his mothers side (obviously haha). I think that having someone like Sammy around Hazel will make her confused an out Frank. She will probably often find herself wanting Leo but only because she is mentally convinced he's Sammy. So those are my thoughts:)

CaputDraconis Annabeth is the seventh demigod in the great prophecy. I saw that in Demigod Diaries. And the title IS called Mark of Athena. Annabeth will play a key role in it. And did anybody notice the cover of Mark of Athena? On the right Percy is on Blackjack with waves around him. He is wearing his CHB shirt and is holding Riptide. On the left Jason is on another horse with lightning around him. He is in the SPQR shirt and it looks like he is holding a lightning bolt. And they are fighting while and owl looks on. So Jason and Percy are fighting for some reason. Leo is Sammy's grandson I think. Since Hephaestus is his father. If that is true then it's gonna be awkward for Leo to meet his grandfathers ex-girlfriend. But Leo will play an important role in Mark of Athena. 'To storm or fire, the world must fall'. Leo is fire and Jason is storm.
