A short while later, a train set out from the station. The underground had been almost completely deserted, and it did seem that whoever was supposed to be driving the train had stayed ホーム from work that day. When the train left, it had only three passengers - John, Paul, and George. Ringo was driving.
The Beatles had made only one stop on their way to the station - they had gone back to the theatre they had performed in the other day, and had picked up their two guitars, left-handed bass, and small drum kit. They had no real reason for doing this - just that they felt a lot better with their instruments in hand, and if they were going on a long and dangerous quest, they wanted to be able to play 音楽 whenever they chose. On the street, the Beatles had noticed that they hadn't passed many people at all, and those they did pass were all over fifty. So some of the establishment folk hadn't listened to them. The Beatles didn't like the establishment (and obviously the feeling was mutual), but that didn't mean they wanted them getting their souls sucked out. Well, they had done all they could. They were sure, at least, that their ファン would all listen to them. If nothing else, the teenagers of England would be safe.
And at the moment, the Beatles were having too much fun - Paul, George, and John from having a whole train to themselves; Ringo from getting to drive 発言しました train however he liked - to really worry about how hard their quest would be. The three Beatles who weren't driving played in the cars while Ringo drove them at 上, ページのトップへ speed, nearly swerving off the tracks a couple of times, but always managing to avoid putting the foursome into any real danger.
Talking of danger....
"Do あなた think the Beast knows we're after him and these things? Does he know we've already got one?"
Paul voiced this worry to George sometime in the afternoon, when the games had slowed down. Paul and George were sitting side によって side watching the stations go by, while John was busy wandering through the compartments, touching the Sword of Truth to various advertisements to see what happened.
George thought before answering Paul. "He did lead us right to the Sword. He might be worried about someone finding all them objects." Seeing the look on Paul's face, he added, "That might help us, though. Maybe the Beast will help us find the rest of them."
"I don't really want to follow him around," Paul said. Then, "What do あなた think the Beast is doing right now?"
George didn't have an answer. The two Beatles looked out the window, where their train was briefly aboveground before heading back into the tunnels. Once again, the scene was deserted. There was nothing but 草 and trees and buildings and pavement - and it was all very still.
The train pulled back into the tunnels and it was dark again.
It was nighttime when the Beatles reached Liverpool, and as they got off the train, they noticed there was no one at the station. "Well, we did tell them all to stay in," Ringo pointed out. "There was no one at any station - I think," he added with some hesitation. "I didn't really stop to look."
Still, the dark stillness of the station was unnerving, especially since this place was the Beatles' home. They slowly made their way out into the cool night air, instruments in hand, sticking close together without looking too much like they were trying to.
In the dark night, the streets of Liverpool were as deserted as the streets of ロンドン had been - または at least, they seemed to be at first glance. Every now and then, in the distance, there came a rustling sound, as if there was someone out on the street, but the Beatles never saw anyone. John put a hand on his sword - not that he liked to think of it as a weapon, but he wanted to be sure of it, just in case.
"All right," he said. "Let's look for kitchens."
Now that the Beatles were actually in Liverpool, this was easier 発言しました than done. Every house would have a キッチン in it, but the boys could hardly go into every house asking for a jar of Green Marmite Yeast Extract. They would be at it all year.
Ringo looked round at the deserted streets. Really, he wanted to start with his old home, just in case... but they weren't anywhere near there. They weren't near any of the Beatles' old homes, and besides, they would probably know about it if one of them had had a jar of Green Marmite Yeast Extract in the キッチン growing up.
George was 次 to speak. "I still think it's here somewhere."
Paul looked uncertain, but that was enough for John. He, after all, knew what it was like to find one of the special objects. "It is here, then," he agreed.
John hoped that this statement was true, since the Sword of Truth had allowed him to say it. He was pretty sure that he couldn't lie while wearing it, but wasn't sure if the sword would prevent him from saying something if he thought it was true and it wasn't.
"I hope no one's eaten it in all this time," 発言しました Paul quietly.
Ringo was still waiting to see someone else. He knew they had told everyone to stay inside, but then why could they still hear noises.... "It's too quiet out here," he murmured. "Almost makes me wish some teddy boys would come and attack us または something. Just so we'd see someone."
John laughed. "If they did come for us now, they'd be attacking us for our autographs," he pointed out reasonably.
"Is that what they're after, then?" Paul pointed down the 通り, ストリート to where a small crowd seemed to be coming in their direction. Moving very stiffly, as though they were not in complete control of their actions...
The four Beatles looked at each other. This was not good.
