Title: Road Trip Musical
Fandom: Supernatural/High School Musical
Length: 3396
Rating: PG-13 (nothing much, a bit of violence near the end and it's practically canon (see Ghostfacers) that the boys have a potty mouth, so there's a bit of swearing)
Summary: Dean and Sam think they've stumbled upon a normal cut-and-dried case. When they start singing, however, things start taking a far stranger turn. A tale of music, 歌う brothers and sexual confusion.
Author's notes: I was bored in class, and started 書く on a スーパーナチュラル rendition of the 'What's This?' song from The Nightmare Before Christmas. Then I thought 'hey, it would be funny if the Winchesters encountered a musical demon'. For some reason, my 次 logical thought was 'hey, it would be even funnier if スーパーナチュラル and High School Musical crossed over!'. My brain is weird, and so this half plot half crack monster came out.

They didn’t argue about it. People in a series of generally normal towns suddenly going on one killing spree after another was definitely their thing.

Dean opened the door of their motel room, bags of Chinese take-out under his arms. Sam’s eyes quickly flickered up from his laptop, and went down again when he saw his brother.
“Uh, hey.”
“Hey. So, did あなた find out anything?”
“Not much. Are あなた sure we’re in the right town? Things here seem incredibly normal.”
“I’m pretty sure the pattern fits. Let’s give it a couple of days, find out what we can. Dude, あなた even listening?”
During his brother’s speech Sam’s eyes had drifted to the window. He closed his laptop and stood up.
“Sure, yeah. Hey, what’s going on out there?”
Dean walked over to Sam and looked out of the window.
Outside darkness had unexpectedly set in. Ominous stormy clouds appeared over the town, but from the looks of it they weren’t exactly normal. Black pillars of smoke descended from them, and like a dark wind they blew through the streets.
Sam caught Dean’s eyes and raised his eyebrows. Suddenly they heard music, softly at first but definitely swelling. Dean looked over his shoulder, and then back at Sam, who slowly opened his mouth. Dean saw panic in his eyes, and Sam moved his jaw, trying to close his mouth. He helplessly flailed around until he started to… to sing.

“What’s this? What’s this?
There’s demons in the air.
What’s this?
There’s spirits everywhere.
What’s this?
We are so screwed, we’ve got to exorcise them.
Not a 秒 left to spare!
What’s this?

What’s this?
This feeling is so wrong.
What’s this?
Did I burst into song?
What’s this?
The streets are filled with evil fuckers flying,
Soon those people will start dying,
We need to stop this, I’m not lying.
What’s this?”

The 音楽 faded away and the two brothers just stared at each other.
“Well, I think now we’re onto something,” Dean 発言しました dryly.

The 次 days were very confusing.
That morning when Sam woke up he heard soft 音楽 coming from the bathroom. He carefully opened the door and the 音楽 hit him like a brick in the face. Dean was in the shower, a curtain thankfully keeping Sam from seeing もっと見る of his brother than he wanted to.
“You, are, sooo beautiful… to meee-eeee…” he heard Dean croon with a full orchestra accompanying his singing.
Sam was flabbergasted.
“Dude… are あなた 歌う to your reflection or… to little Dean there?”
The 音楽 stopped abruptly and Dean’s head, his hair dripping wet, peered around the シャワー curtain. He opened and closed his mouth a couple of times, but no sound came out.
“Awkward,” Sam said, and closed the bathroom door behind him.

During lunch they had to listen to the waitress 歌う a tear-jerking ballad about the specials that day.
“So, think this whole Once もっと見る With Feeling thing has something to do with the case?” Sam asked, as the rest of the ダイナー, 食堂 burst into a spontaneous applause for the waitress.
“Man, I gotta tell you,” Dean said, “This is the weirdest fucking case I’ve seen in quite some time.”
“No shit.”
“So where the hell do we start?”
“Uh, let’s see… what do these towns have in common?”
“They’re all pretty much Mr. Rogers material. Good, wholesome American towns.”
“Yeah, I noticed that too. Low crime rate, highly educated, small towns…”
“So some demon decides to wreak a little havoc because the living here is a little too picture-perfect. But why musicals?”
“To be honest… I have no idea. I’ll go look up what happened in the other towns and try to find some information on… musical demons. Now there’s something I thought I’d never say.”
“I’ll go to the local university. I’ve heard the demon’s impact there was pretty big.”

It was hell on campus. All kinds of songs were heard at the same time, driving Dean crazy. As if that wasn’t enough already, he nearly got knocked over によって dancing couples a couple of times, and had to jump out of the way of an entire fraternity doing a choreographed jazz routine.
“This is some weird fucking shit.” He muttered under his breath.
Then he heard the creaking and groaning that could only belong to an old car and spun around. A truly ancient truck stopped at the edge of campus, and a young boy with girly hair stepped out. Dean was so glad to see someone who wasn’t 歌う または dancing that he immediately made his way over, not even minding that the boy seemed to be wearing eyeliner.
“Hey, great ride.” He 発言しました and lovingly petted the フード of the car.
“Thanks,” the boy said, eyeing Dean cautiously. “Me and my dad fixed it up together.”
“The only way to do it.” Dean smiled.
At that moment the jazz-dancing fraternity passed them, saving Dean from thinking up a way to naturally bring the topic up.
“Wow, that’s weird.” He simply said.
“Really?” The boy answered. “I hadn’t noticed.”
Dean looked at him sideways. “Are あなた being sarcastic?”
“No, I really hadn’t noticed.”
“How come? I thought the whole West Side Story thing only started last week.”
“Well, I only arrived here last week. Besides, it happened at my high school too.”
“Really. That’s funny… I’m Dean, によって the way.”
“Troy.”
”So, Troy, how did all this get started at your high school?”
“Well… it happened when I met my girlfriend, I guess.”
Huh. Dean wouldn’t have pegged him as the time to have a girlfriend.
“Tell me more.”

“High school lovin’, happened so fast.
High school lovin’, had me a blast.
Met a girl, crazy for me…”
“How did she score on the old ESP?”

(“What?”
”Never mind.”)
“Then she transferred to my school.
And I guess then the 歌う began.”
“Well, well, well, well, tell me more, tell me more,
are her eyes sometimes black?
Tell me more, tell me more,
does she have a great rack?”

Troy looked at him.
“What did あなた say?”
”No, nothing.”
Dean was literally saved によって the ベル at this moment, since one of the law classes came out of the university, having finished their last class of the day. A pretty hot girl with long dark hair ran forwards and jumped into Troy’s arms. They kissed passionately and Dean coughed, aiming for subtle but missing that goal によって several miles.
The two let go of each other, Troy was blushing. The girl, who had been smiling widely at first, now narrowed her eyes at Dean. She clung to Troy’s arm and looked up at him.
“Who’s that?”
“Oh. Yeah. Gabriella, Dean, Dean, Gabriella. He was just asking about what’s going on with the 歌う and dancing.”
“Oh, really?” The girl’s voice was sugary sweet, but when she met Dean’s eyes he saw a flash of annoyance in her expression.
“Well, I don’t want to be rude, but we had picnic plans, remember? So we need to go. Now.” She fiddled with a locket around her neck as she made doe-eyes up at Troy.
“Okay. Um, see あなた around, Dean.”
“Yeah, later, Troy.”
When Dean met up with Sam later they both spoke up at the same time.
“I think I found something.”
“You go first,” Sam offered.
Dean explained about Troy (“and I’ll bet あなた ten dollars he’s light in the boots anyway”) and hot-but-suspicious Gabriella. Sam looked up in alarm and rifled through some papers.
“Did they happen to go to… East High?”
“Not sure, but Troy mentioned coming from the East Coast.”
“Hmm. She could be it, あなた know. It happened at East High last, before it blew over to this place.”
“That’s settled then.”
”Not really… we know who it is, but what is she and how the hell do we get rid of her?”
“And… how is this connected to the murders? あなた know, the reason we came here in the first place?”
Right at that moment they heard strange noises outside. Both of them peeked their head out of the window, just in time to see a young man on the 通り, ストリート dropping to his knees. He cradled his head in his hands, and seemed to be talking to himself. Around him various trashcans were rolling away, which might explain the weird noises.

“No, I can’t… I won’t…
I can’t stop the melodies that are racing through my head
And I can’t stand all this singing, no, I think I’d rather be dead

SHUT UP! SHUT UP!
and I did try to stop my dancing feet but this all fills me with dread!
AAAAAAAAAARGH!
’Cause this force just spins me round and round
and I can’t stand all these dreadful sounds
Make it stop! Because this shit drives me insaaane!
I can’t stop the beat!”

“Wow,” Dean said. “That dude’s got issues.”
On the ground below some passers-by had stopped to watch the impromptu show. The man picked himself up from the ground, slowly, with great effort.
“So あなた think this is funny, huh? あなた think this is all Disney-shit and everyone sings about their feelings? GET OUT! GET THE FUCK OUT!”
Before Sam and Dean’s eyes the man grabbed the closet spectator によって the hair and bashed his head against the wall.

Ten 分 later the psychopathic singer was on the ground and tied up.
“Yeah. Issues.” Sam said. “By the way, I think we may have found a connection.”
Dean rolled his eyes.

“So, apparently, there is no such thing as a musical demon.”
Sam turned around in his chair, eyes tired from hours of performing the art of Google Fu.
“Then what the hell is she? Because I sure as hell ain’t 歌う voluntarily.”
Sam turned back around in his chair, started pulling multiple screens up on the computer.
“Her name was Gabriella, あなた say?”
“Yeah. Dark skin, long hair, hot.”
Sam was looking through the website of East High at 上, ページのトップへ speed.
“There, graduation class of ’07, Gabriella Montez.” Then, after a couple of minutes. “Huh, this is strange.”
“What?” Dean said, his mouth full of fries.
Sam nicked one off him and pointed at the screen.
“There is nothing on her from before her time at East High. It’s like she didn’t exist.”
“So we’re back to musical demon again? または possession?”
“But there’s no such thing as… hold on.”
Dean watched over Sam’s shoulder as Sam went through スーパーナチュラル websites at the speed of light.
“There! Reckon we have a case of ghost possession?”
Dean furrowed his brow.
”Ghost possession? Thought only demons did that.”
“Apparently not.”
“Wait a second, so according to this new age hack here we’ve got to ‘assist them into moving beyond the earthbound’? The fuck?”
“Yeah, I wondered about that too…”
”Whaddaya say we just go with a good old exorcism and a few rounds of rocksalt? I sure as hell ain’t gonna talk about white light and the promise of 愛 and peace.”
Sam got up and started stuffing his bag.
“Didn’t think you’d be the type.”

They drove over to the campus, and got out with the ESP readers in hand. It wasn’t much of a plan, but walking around looking for スーパーナチュラル activity または Troy’s truck seemed to be the best course of action. As they searched people began to walk out and formed lines around them.
“That’s not good,” Dean said, and pulled out his shotgun.
A cute girl with dark brown hair and giant eyes stumbled forwards and grabbed onto Sam’s arm. Desperately she looked him in the eyes.
“Help… me…” she managed to squeeze out before her body went rigid and stepped back in line again.
As one, the people all opened their mouths.

“They’re Sammy and the Dean,
Sammy and the Dean,
Their ghostbusting antics are something to be seen!
They both look pretty good
They salt and burn and shoot
They’re Sammy, they’re Sammy and the Dean, Dean, Dean, Dean…”

“Okay, getting out of here, right now!” Dean said.
Sam just stared at the masses with raised eyebrows. He knew what it was like to be forced to sing and some of these people seemed to be in pain when the 歌う just took over their resisting bodies. He forced himself to focus on the task at hand. He knew from experience that wiping out a ghost usually undid most of the freaky stuff they had inflicted, if the victims were still alive, that is.

They didn’t have to 検索 for long. In the middle of the street, there she was, in a pretty white dress, looking for all the world like an innocent little girl. That image was a bit ruined によって the boy, Troy, standing beside her with a blank gaze, head lolling on one shoulder.
“Well, well, well,” she put her hands on her hips. “If it isn’t the boy wonder and his sidekick.”
They raised their 銃 in unison.
“Oh あなた boys, with your silly toys.”
“Let them go, あなた nasty bitch,” Dean growled at her.
Sam nudged him. “Dean…” he 発言しました in a low voice, but he was interrupted によって Gabriella, or, well, によって the spirit inside her.
“Mind your language around a young thing like me.” She batted her eyelashes at them, a ridiculous parody of the sweet looks of the girl she possessed.
“Dean, she has a lot of control for a spirit who’s possessing. She can bend their wills, she can plan!”
“You’re right,” Dean muttered back. “But it’s probably nothing a little rock salt won’t solve. Then we’ll have to find what’s keeping her here.”
Gabriella shook her head. “Uh uh.”
The people around them, including Troy, slumped to the ground. At the same time, Sam and Dean felt their body stiffen against their will. Gabriella snatched the shotguns from their hands and threw them on the road.
Mostly, Dean was glad she wasn’t forcing them to sing again. “So, what, あなた get some kind of sick pleasure out of forcing everyone to do a little Broadway, a little 歌う and dancing in the streets?”
Gabriella went to stand right in front of him and reached up to touch his face. “Force? Oh no no no, I’m giving them an opportunity, もっと見る than I was ever given.” She pulled her hand back, and gave Dean a 迅速, スウィフト slap in the face. The sound echoed through the street. “I’ve been possessing bodies for several centuries, Dean Winchester. I had the most beautiful voice ever heard, and they burned me for it. They thought I’d made a little deal with the devil, または did a little black magic dabbling myself, now how about that, huh? People like me get killed and people like あなた live?”
Dean saw Sam trying to get his attention from the corners of his vision, and widened his eyes at him. He knew Sammy would probably have picked up the very significant fact that this girl had been burned. Where the hell would they look now for her remains?
“You know what I’m gonna do?” Gabriella 発言しました with hints of glee/グリー and insanity in her voice. “I’m going to make your brains explode now.”
She curled her fingers into a tiny fist, and then a shot sounded. Gabriella fell down, and when she had collapsed on the ground they saw Troy standing their with a shotgun, shaking uncontrollably.
Sam and Dean instantly felt the ability to control their own body returning to them. Dean strode over to Troy, took the shotgun away and patted the boy on the back.
“Now, it doesn’t seem like she’s ready to let go of the body,” he said. “She’s gonna be back. And we need to stop her.”
“But… how?” Troy said, still shivering.
Not that strange, Sam thought. He shot his own girlfriend.
“Does she own anything strange?” he said. “Or wear anything unusual?”
“She doesn’t own much. And she dresses like she always has. Only thing is that she never wears the jewellery I give her, so I just started giving other presents.”
“She was wearing a ネックレス just now.” Sam said.
“Yeah, but I didn’t give it to her. It’s just this weird old locket.”
Sam and Dean exchanged A Look, and Gabriella chose that moment to rise again. She started to raise her hand, but Dean smiled.
“Think again, bitch.”
He socked her in the jaw, and as she stumbled backwards Sam snatched the locket from her neck. She changed direction, lunged for Sam with fingers outstretched as if she was going to use her nails to rip him up. Troy stepped in-between them, and she stopped at the last moment, turning around to have a go at Dean again.
Sam quickly opened the locket, and there was a lock of dark hair there, tied together with a ribbon.
“Got it!” he yelled out to Dean, who was trying to keep Gabriella away from Sam. So far, the ‘distraction によって punching her’ thing seemed to be working.
Sam fished his matchbook out of his jeans and lit the lock of hair on fire, just as Gabriella knocked Dean to the ground and seemingly prepared to claw his brains out again. She turned around, 発言しました “No.”, but only had time to scream Dean’s name before the ghost rose out of her and flickered out of existence.
Dean dropped his head back onto the road, giving himself a few moments of rest as the people lined up in the streets regained control over their bodies and looked at one another as if they hadn’t the faintest idea about what had been going on.

Thankfully the cops had been easily evaded and the people involved claimed mass hallucinations and amnesia. After their wounds had been bound and Dean’s ego had been reinflated (“tackled によって a girl! And she was tiny!”) they were ready to haul 尻, お尻 and go looking for a new job.
Before they could get going, however, there was a knock on the door. When they opened it they found Troy leaning there, like an ad for some overpriced pretty boy teen brand.
“Hey,” he shyly said.
“Hi.”
Sam and Dean stood there with their hands in their pockets, not entirely comfortable with the situation.
“You gonna be all right, kid?” Dean offered, eventually.
“I guess,” Troy shrugged. “I’m gonna… I’m gonna miss the singing, too.”
Dean raised his eyebrows at Sam, who just rolled his eyes and gave a tiny jerk of his head towards Troy. Dean shrugged and wandered off into the bathroom with his bag.
“I just can’t believe,” the boy continued, “that I moved halfway across the country for her… and it wasn’t even real!”
“Sam, ready to hit the road?” Sam heard Dean call from the bathroom.
“Yeah, just a minute!” Sam said. “Listen, あなた couldn’t have done anything about it. And think about it, you’re free now, あなた can do what あなた want. あなた can stay here または 移動する back…”
“I kind of already called a friend,” Troy 発言しました with a shy grin.
“See ya around then, kid,” Dean said, now leaning in the doorway to the bathroom. “And good luck and stuff.”
Jazz 音楽 started drifting in through their outside door, and Troy turned to look outside.
“That’s my ride…”
The Winchesters waved the boy goodbye. Sam locked the door of the motel room behind him, and turned to find Dean waiting for him with a shit-eating grin.
“What?” Sam 発言しました apprehensively.
Dean just pointed.
The 情報源 of the jazz 音楽 was a hideous ピンク convertible. A blond boy with a light ピンク キャップ sat in the driver’s seat, and Troy was getting in behind him. He fixed his hair in the overhead mirror, caught the Winchesters’ eyes and waved one last time.
“We never officially made that bet,” Sam said.
Dean just grinned a little wider and extended his hand towards Sam.
“Fuck,” Sam muttered and rifled through his pockets. He handed Dean a ten-dollar bill. “I would have 発言しました that’s circumstantial evidence at best, but… look at him.”
“Told あなた so!” Dean 発言しました in a light-hearted voice.

“You know,” Dean said, as they were speeding off in the Impala, away from this strange town with one of the weirdest cases they’d ever worked, “I think I’m gonna miss the singing, too.”

Sam 発言しました nothing and turned the radio up.

There seems to be a widely-held opinion right now that Sam has abandoned Dean and has no respect left for him; that after everything Dean has done for him, he turned his back when Dean needed him the most. Wow. What kind of brother does that? A selfish, arrogant, ungrateful, weak-charactered one, that’s who! I would like to explain why I think Sam is not that kind of brother, and why he is, in fact, the stronger character of the two. It's a big part of why I'm attracted もっと見る to Sam than Dean.

First of all, Sam is not a shallow person who selfishly ran away to college while leaving his father...
