Honestly...those last chapters looked like she got them out of fanfiction.net.
no joke.
No surprises there about his feelings for lily though..it made sense...and now that we've been banged in the head with " you have your mother's eyes harry"
Snape's last words...look at me...are poignant.
Oh my. I always thought that he loved her, because he never said anything bad about her. I know that that's a bad reason, but somehow that's why I suspected it.
I was more surprised that so many people got it right. The 'look at me' thing thats sad! I thought he was like Voldemort (which is pretty stupid) I thought he hated everyone and never had friends and never wanted them.
he only called her a Mudblood because he was so hurt and embarrassed by what James had done to him and he reacted as we all too often do - by snapping at the person nearest and dearest to us - it's a common defence mechanism and the fallout from that one ill-chosen remark has haunted him for the rest of his life
Yes, I was a little suprised. I mean JKR really didn't give any indication that he even knew his mother. Had she laced the books with their friendship ... maybe it wouldn't have been such a shock. But then again, many writers don't know where there characters are going until the very end.
It just felt right. I can't say exactly what made me think that he loved her, but I suspected for a long time. That's what I like about JKR's writing. She doesn't hit you over the head with clues, but you still get an idea of where she's going.
i NEVER would have guessed!!!! with the cirque du freak series you can tell when the author was going to spring the surprise! i knew in book 1 practically who the vampaneze lord was we didn't find out til book 9 and i was right! with j k rowling you can never tell and i love that about her!
It depends on when you are talking about, I knew Snape loved her before the last book, but I can't remember which one, but when I read all the clues I was shocked...
yes, because i only refer to the movies before, and lily is not in snape's worst memory (in the movie), i was shocked to see potter bullying snape, but i was more shocked that snape loved lily from the start when i started reading the books..
Even in his childhood it was expressed that he had feelings for her..he always had and he always will..im sad that they didnt end up together but if they did..there would be no harry potter
Only because in the beginning, I never would've guessed he even NEW her. But by Prisoner of Azkaban with Remus and Sirius's talking to Severus at the Shreiking Shack, I began to wonder.....
I came to the conclusion myself. I was surprised when I thought of the idea and I obsessed over the idea for weeks. So juicy. I was thrilled when I found it was true.
I didn't read the last three books until last summer and by the time I came to this part I had been hit by as many spoilers as one can possibly be hit with.
I was a foolish girl back then. "I've just picked up my Harry Potter books again and realised how amazing this series is. I know what I'll do, I'll join the online fandom because they definitely won't be talking about what happens in the last book. No wayyy"
I knew because in the first moveie he look at harry and he was not looking at his scar he was looking into his eyes because they were lily eyes and he had not seen them in 10 years
i was shocked at how deep it went. I assumed a friendship and maybe puppy love.. but nothing of the deepness it truly went! I myself dont care for the whole lily/severus relationship though..
I guessed by book 5.
Did NOT get the meaning of 'Look at me' for aaaages though.
Harry has Lilys eyes... Snape just wanted to die under Lilys gaze...
That's so beautiful!
I think it was also because he wanted Harry to see the truth in his dying eyes.
And yes, Lily DID love Severus, but as a friend only. I've read that JK has said that if it weren't for his interest in the Dark Arts, Lily very well may have fallen for him.
Sometimes friendships can be far deeper than romantic entanglements. The fact that it was an unrequited love doesn't make it less powerful or profound.
i know many peouple are saying this but ive been pairing lily/sev from book 3 when i started really getting into it i never thought it was going to happen when it did i squealed like a lil fan girl lol
No he didn't seem the kind of person that loves someone...even less a "mudblood"...but his love is beautiful and makes sense...that's why he hated Harry so much...because he saw James in him...and even more, he saw Lily and the life that he could have had if his love was consumed...
^^
In his memories when Snape said he never meant to call Lily a Mudblood and it just slipped out, she said he called every Muggle-born a Mudblood and asked why she should be any different. So Snape obviously was a fan of blood purity in addition to the Dark Arts which is why it suprised me a lot that he was in love with Lily.
he was always insulting "mudbloods"
Keyword: always. We hear him say it once, in a high-stress emotional situation. Lily, before getting mad, never once says anything about Severus calling muggle-borns 'mudbloods.' Considering how offensive a word it is, and considering Lily couldn't make an excuse when Severus uses it in front of witnesses, it's highly unlikely he "always" used the word.
no joke.

Snape needs something to make up for his very, very bad childhood!

One times does not equal always.
