The door closes and Snape is left alone with the two people dearest to him.
His ハート, 心 trembles at the sight of them together.
When he first realized what he felt for her was love, he could not tolerate the idea of another man touching her. But now, gazing at her in Malfoy's arms, he is actually comforted. Comforted because he knows that if something happens to him, she will not be left alone. He wants nothing もっと見る at this moment than to lay down with them, take his time healing them, but he can't. He doesn't have that luxury. What he does have, besides the burning desire to make 愛 to them, is the burning need to protect them. He makes another difficult decision; he kisses Elsbet tenderly, walks around to the other side of the ベッド and kisses Malfoy just as tenderly, then whispers, "Know that I 愛 あなた both so very much..."
He then slips out of the room, sealing the door out of habit, then heads back down the long hallway. His stride and expression convey purpose and determination, and he means to make it out of the Temple unseen. But Therion and Remus are talking near the main entrance, and he has no choice but to be seen. They're astonished to see him leaving. Remus looks at him closely as he approaches, saying softly, "but Severus, it's barely midnight...I thought you'd be here at least until dawn." He does not reply until Therion gives him a stern look. "I have business to which I must attend," he says flatly, and the depth of his voice tells them both もっと見る than his words can.
"This doesn't have anything to do with a certain werewolf, does it?" Snape meets Therion's fair brown eyes and replies, "how can I allow Greyback's threat to stand unanswered?" Remus sighs deeply and says, "let me go with you, Severus. あなた should not do this alone." He looks at the other wizard, knowing he is quite capable of facing the one who made him what he is, but refuses the offer. "You both are far too important, あなた are needed here. I will--" Therion steps closer and tells him he needs to take someone with him. "You know there are people here in the White City who are immune to the bite of a werewolf, Severus." Snape does not wish to endanger anyone, but Therion is right, on both counts.
"Promise us you'll go to them, Severus. あなた know they'll do anything for you." Reluctantly, he gives them his word, then exits the Temple. As he does, he is noticed によって three of the Brothers, and he stops briefly because he doesn't want to be rude...not to these particular wizards. They've always been respectful to him. "Your friend is well, I hope, Severus," Brother Ignis says and he nods, then tells them Lucius is resting. "Where are あなた off to, if あなた don't mind the question...?" Brother Zypher asks tentitively, and Severus allows himself the slightest smile. "I have business in the Garden of Dreams," he says, and their faces grow somber.
One does not venture into that District without a definite reason, and his is very grim.
They bid him good eve and good fortune, and he bids them the same, then sets off once again to see some of the most unique residents of the White City. Some people here call them Shadows または Shades, mostly because in the Garden of Dreams it is perpetually night, and therein grows but two flowers; the Simbelmynë, and the Asphodel. It reminds folk of a certain part of the Greek Underworld. But the dwellers in this lovely, midnight place call themselves Silhouettes.
Once, they were the deadliest assassins on seven Earths, but a millenia ago, they were forced out of their birth-home. Sanctuary City, the White City Severus has come to so love, was the only place that would give them safe-haven. They've done well for themselves in a thousand years. And while they don't travel nearly as much anymore, they are still just as deadly as they've always been. They are the White City's secret weapon.
And they love Severus Snape.
They respect courage, especially in the face of seemingly insurmountable odds; they admire loyalty and devotion to フレンズ and comerades; and to them, 愛 is one of the most vital aspects of Life, indeed, one is not truly alive unless they love. And the もっと見る あなた love, the merrier, in their humble opinions, and gender is not even a consideration. In most Silhouette households, the Unions are three または five, but of course, it's up to individual preference. The happiness of those involved is what is most important.
It was they who gave Snape the chance to buy Dumbledore もっと見る time, but unfortuantely, that wretched twist of fate rendered it unnecessary. He still has the vial of potion they gave him; one does not return a gift from a Silhouette. But he keeps it for another reason, one he will tell no one, except maybe one of them because they would understand it best.
They know he's coming to see them before he gets there; very little happens here without them knowing. His closest acquaintances have already gathered near the gates, and though he does not need to speak the password, he does. "Comitis Fidelis," says he, and the gates スイング wide, then close again as they greet him. Fleeting hugs, friendly pats, even the little ones rush to see him. In a normal setting, such uninvited physical contact would set his teeth on egde, but among the Silhouettes, physical contact is a must, it is a form of communication, and honestly, Snape finds their touch quite soothing.
There is no need for verbal communication, though he does hear some excited squeals from the smallest children...no one at Hogwarts would ever believe this (except perhaps Dumbledore), but here, they actually want to learn from him. As the parents carry their little ones away, one of them asks, "Severus, your man, his Petition went well? He is accepted?" He tells them yes and smiles at the rejoycing. They tell Snape they look フォワード, 前進, 楽しみにして to meeting Malfoy, and they hope he will bring Elsbet, and they ask him もっと見る questions, none of which he minds answering.
At last, they come to the reason he's there, and he is escorted to the two assassins who have already decided they will accompany him on his task. He doesn't even have to ask.
