I am 1 quarter Irish. My family came to North America from Ireland in the 1800's, and when my family lived in Montreal we would always celebrate it by making brunch. Then we would attend the Saint Patricks Day parade. We haven't done that since we moved to Vancouver, but we still attend the Saint Patricks Day parade here, and celebrate it with a passion.
Rugagh agus togadh me in Eireann. Ta bron orm faoi mo gramadach... ni raibh me ag caint i ngaeilge i rith na tsaoire agus rinne me dearmadh a lan grammadach tar eis mo theastais shoisearaigh. (If you can understand this, and good luck to ye, ur Irish - but no dictionaries! lol)
1OO% Irish - well as much as anyone can claim to be I suppose! epic-LoVe, good work! Ag caint as gaeilge! Rinne me dearmadh a lan gaeilge tar eis scoile fresin, ach tá sé ailean ar fad mar ta athas orm nuar a fheach me duine ag caint as gaeile ar fanpop anocht! :D Sorry if that is the worst Irish grammer ever, but hopefully you know what I mean! Ta taoirseach orm anois, tá me ag dul a choladh!! Oiche Mhaith!
Oiche Mhaith tinydancer. Bhi grammadach mhaith orthu... thuigim! Ta athas orm nuair a leimh me do comment mar nil a lan daoine ar fanpop daoine gaelach ach ceapainn siad go bhfuil siad daoine gaelach!!! Wow! I dont speak this much irish in irish class!!!
You know what Epic-LoVe, I wrote that comment after being at my friend's 21st, so you might say I was a bit tipsy.... And now that I'm totally sober, I can't think of enough Irish to write back to you as gaeilge! :) I understood your message though, your written Irish is very good! Mine has really gotten terrible since I left school, but it really is so nice to see Irish being written somewhere like Fanpop, shows that it's not just something that has to be used in the classroom alone! :)
Rugagh mo dhaid i Eireann agus bhi me i gconai i Eireann chun hocht bliana. Is maith liom ag caint as Gaeilge ach nil a lan daoine ar Fanpop daoine gaelach freisin,(sorry I'm not very good talking Irish even though I've been learning it for ages, but it comes in handy when living in England because people have no clue what your saying).
But I love Ireland and I celebrate St.Paddy's day of course!!!!
I was born day before St.Paddy and green is my fav colour too!!
