Brooke may be the main girl in seasons 7 & 8 but Peyton was the main girl in earlier seasons. No doubt.

peyton was because she was cast for the show first out of the girls. and i agree with kellyerin87 defo peyton in 1-6 and i dont think there was a main girl in 7 or 8.

Well I am torn between Haley and Peyton.
Haley is the one who knew both of the brothers at first, I mean the one who brought them closer and she made Naley happen.

Even though all three have been the "main" girl at some point in the series,Peyton was the main girl in the beginning.#1 she was the always the first gal to be featured in the credits.#2 she was the first girl to be connected to BOTH leading guys in some way or another.

Definitely Peyton in earlier seasons, now I would say Haley.

NONE! Season one may have started out centered around three certain characters,but that quickly changed. You are all entitled to your own opinion, but I just don't know how you can pick an option to this question. All three girls are equally important to O.T.H., none of them is THE main character...they all share the spotlight.

Season one: I realize it started out focusing on Peyton a great deal, so maybe in the beginning she was the main girl. It changed about half way through with Naley starting and the fans and Lucas getting to know Brooke.

Season two: All three girls had things going on in their life. Haley had her marriage tangled in with her talent. Brooke had the issue of defining herself plus Lucas/Felix/Mouth drama. Peyton had a hard time coping without Jake and struggling with drugs.

Season three: Haley was returning home and facing all her demons she left behind. Brooke had clothes over bro's, her struggle to let Lucas back in her life, and drama with Rachel. Peyton had Ellie drama along with missing Jake.

Season 4: Haley had her pregnancy and that took up a whole season. Brooke had her crumbling relationship with both Lucas and Peyton, a new friendship with Rachel. Peyton had pycho Derek, Lucas, and a crumbling friendship to deal with.

Season 5: Haley had a torn marriage, a son to raise, and two careers to manage. Brooke had a broken relationship with her mother, a huge corporation to run, and growing up to do. Peyton had issues with Lucas, and a lot of figuring out to do.

Season 6: Haley had a family and a job. Brooke had a foster daughter, a new found romance that led to love again, a relationship to repair with her mother, and rebuilding her business. Peyton had a pregnancy and a wedding to plan along with the return of an old boyfriend.

So you see all girls have had the spotlight at different times.

^ Ofcourse all of the girls have had the spotlight at different times, otherwise there would be no point in them even being on the show. But just because they all had their fair share of storylines doesn't mean that there still isn't a "main" girl. Just like both Lucas and Nathan have had the spotlight at different times, but most people still see Lucas as the "main" guy.

That's not to say that they aren't all equally important, because they are. But every show has it's "main" characters. And I think it definitely comes down to Lucas & Peyton individually. I always saw the show as kind of being told through their eyes, or from their perspective most of the time. I'm pretty sure it was even acknowledged by Mark, and other members of the crew that the lead girl is Peyton. But, you're ofcourse entitled to your own opinion! :)

without question it's peyton. not only was she the clear focus of the girls in the beginning... but i noticed a long time ago that her, and lucas seemed to wrap up a LOT of the episodes. like the show would do it's coda, then either lucas or peyton (or both) would be in the very final scene, before the credits rolled. pay attention to that, the next time you see some of the older episodes. i swear it's true... a good majority of them ended with either lucas, or peyton as the final scene.

plus peyton had a decent amount of her own, individual voiceovers too. :)
