This whole thing is just like S1!

Peyton says no to something she's afraid to do or isn't ready for it, lucas gets hurt because of it and runs off to another girl and denys his true feelings for peyton!

I think it's a couple of things. Lucas has always had a problem knowing who he loves. Every season he said with all seriousness that he loved Brooke or Peyton and then switched. SO I think he could be mistaking infatuation for love, but I also think he's been hurt by Peyton's so-called rejection (even though I think he took it the wrong way), and I think he's honestly confused about which one to be with.
