Going to the cinema, or watching a movie on DVD, can be a great way to get the whole family together and have some kind of entertainment that everyone can enjoy.

Here is a list of the top ten upcoming family movies that will be airing in cinema’s the world over, and will later be available to watch in the comfort of your own home.

And you won’t have to worry about any of those awkward moments when no-one knows where to look because something “weird” happened on the screen that isn’t appropriate for the mixed age audience watching!

Trust me, I’ve been in those situations and I would have paid money to have avoided them!

All of the movies below have been listed in order of cinema air date, so you and your family don’t miss out.

And there’s a varied selection so there’s something for every type of family so if you like comedies, animated pictures, action flicks or movies about Superheroes, then we’ve got you covered!

If you are looking for something the whole family can watch and have fun with then Strange Magic (written by George Lucas) has to be on the list. This is an animated adventure set in a fantasy world where the inhabitants are either Magical or Mysterious.

Neither of these types mix and there is even a clear line that neither side must cross.

However, everything changes when a Mysterious inhabitant breaks the rules and crosses into the Magical Kingdom.

When a member of the Magical Kingdom is kidnapped by the Mysterious inhabitants in order to spread chaos, chaos ensues.

Think of this movie as the new Shrek. It’s kind of fairy land set in a darker setting, where the stereotypes of each character is turned on it’s head in order to create absurd situations and wise cracks.

You can check out the trailer for Strange Magic and get a glimpse of what is to come. And keep an ear open for the voices of Kristin Chenoweth, Alan Cumming, Evan Rachel Wood and Sam Palladio!

Iron Man, the Hulk, Thor, Captain America, the Black Widow, Hawkeye and almost everyone else from the first Avengers movies returns in the follow up in the series called Avengers: Age of Ultron.

This is a great movie for families as there is a character for everyone to get behind and for those that don’t like heroes then there’s the ultimate baddie – Ultron.

This is also likely to be one of the biggest selling Superhero movies of 2015, if not the highest grossing movie of the year.

I think the trailer gives us a really good idea of what’s coming up in this film and who’s actually to blame for releasing Ultron!

And you can see who’s in this movie including Robert Downey Jr, Chris Hemsworth, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Evans and Samuel L. Jackson.

This movie from Disney looks like it could be really good. The trailer that was released earlier in the year was very intriguing but also beautiful and interesting and left many of us wanting more.

This movie will be appropriate for a lot of age groups as it’s a Disney movie, the lead is female (Britt Robertson) with an older male sidekick (George Cluny) and it’s set in another world in another time and place. However, this world is unique and it looks like there are Iron Man figures there, or perhaps that’s just how they “roll” in Tomorrowland.

So far it’s making me think of The Never Ending Story but more grown up perhaps?

And it’s also starring Hugh Laurie and Judy Greer.

What could be better than sitting together and experiencing a real life dinosaur theme park come zoo from the comfort of the cinema or your own home?

Well you’ll be glad that you and your loved ones are safe because although Jurassic World has been successfully open to the general public and paying guests for ten years, they’ve decided more excitement is needed to draw bigger crowds.

And the best way to do that is to genetically modify dino DNA and make a super scary monster that also turns out to be a super efficient killing machine of course! Well you must of seen that coming… There’s always terror when it comes to the animals in the Jurassic Park franchise. And a two hour long film about some cute and cuddly potential pets would probably be really boring, although if you could buy something like that at the gift shop on the way out I’d buy it!

Get a glimpse of some of the upcoming cast, including Chris Pratt (Star Lord from Guardian’s of the Galaxy) in the trailer.

Pixar return in 2015 a completely new film called Inside Out (having not released any movies in 2014) and it looks like it will be funny and interesting.

We’ll get to see inside the heads of our characters and see how they think and how they really feel. And you’ll laugh out loud at some of the situations that are portrayed.

Wondering what I mean? Well take a look at the most recent trailer for Inside Out which shows exactly how kids, mums and dads all think on different waves lengths. It actually makes you suddenly realize it’s not just you or your family that are like that!

And if you want to understand each characters role inside their heads, then check out the first trailer which introduced us to Disgust, Envy, Joy, Sadness and Anger.

And you’ll probably recognize some of the voices that play these emotions including Mindy Kaling, Amy Poehler and Bill Hader.
