It’s been eleven-and-a-half years since “LOST” went off the air and it still amazes me on how many of the series’ ファン irritate me. To this day, many people still blame Dr. Jack Shephard for the death of Dr. Juliet Burke in the Season Six premiere, (6.01-6.02) “LAX”.
The plan to drop the U.S. Army’s hydrogen bomb - “Jughead” - at the site where DHARMA scientist Dr. Stuart Radzinsky was drilling to reach the island’s power 情報源 - had originated with Daniel Faraday, not Jack. After Daniel was killed によって the Others’ leader in 1977, Eloise Hawking\, Jack decided to carry out the plan with Sayid Jarrah’s help. Although Jack managed to finally drop the bomb, it failed to detonate, due to Sayid’s failure to insure it would happen. Matters got worse when Radzinsky’’s drilling finally reached the island’s power source. This led to Juliet being dragged into the very pit where Jack had dropped the bomb.
In other words, Sayid’s failure to set the bomb properly and Radzinsky’s insistence on drilling to the island’s power 情報源 had eventually killed Juliet. If the bomb had gone off as it was supposed to, Juliet would have never been forced into that pit and would have returned to 2007 with the other Losties. Her insecurities over Sawyer and Kate after she caught them exchanging a smile did not help matters.
Also, dropping the Jughead bomb was the right thing to do, even if Daniel, Jack, Sayid and Juliet had wanted to detonate it for the wrong reason. The Jughead bomb stopped Radzinsky’s drilling. If the latter had continued, the island and eventually the world would have ended in 1977. Watching (5.16-5.17) “The Incident” recently made me 質問 why so many “LOST” ファン continue, to this day, to dump all of the blame on Jack Shephard for Juliet’s death.
