With the Freys you can always be ignored. with the Greyjoys you just adapt to the culture. With the Lannisters if you're lucky you can always end up with some of the more generous cousins like Kevan and such.

But god help you from Ramsay, he's the literal devil.

Theon is a good example of why this is a terrible family!

The only one that actually have a few good things out of these are the Lannister Family: They might be dicks but at least they have power and with power it's easier to live and be safer
