jedigal1990 agree that is totally unfair. you have a right to be upset you worked hard for your medal and someone who did half the work got the same medal who wouldn't be upset about that. yeah i don't have any medals but i know when i do it will because i earned it so just think of that you truly earned it unlike them. but i get why you're upset you have everyright to be i definitly would be to. Its wrong when people abuse the system like that it makes me sad

Milah You didn't waste my time. And I don't hate you. I'm glad that you posted this. And if I were you, I would be more angry. I totally understand why you feel that way. But another thing is that ratings are dead on EVERY spot! People view something, but they don't rate. So I can kinda see someone asking for ratings. But 40 people??? Now that's INSANE and it's very UNFAIR!

Asvini Personally I don't care much about medals (which is probably why I only have green ones:)) but for someone who does I see how that would be frustrating. Thing is, at least when you look at your medals they're an achievement if you feel you really earned them. I don't think people who are earning their medals should be too upset about those who are 'cheating' because the medals cheats get are meaningless. The difference between a medal earned and one someone cheats to get is the earned one is a sign of achievement, the other is just a meaningless coloured square. You have contributed, and if you have medals that means the contribution has been recognised and rewarded, so it shouldn't matter if you are number one as long as you know the medals you received are deserved. The fact that someone else has a medal you don't feel they deserve doesn't diminish the value of yours and it doesn't stop Fanpop being a cool site full of great people, so it shouldn't have a negative impact on your experience of the site. The way I see it, the people who should be frustrated are the ones who look at their medals and know they have no real meaning because they didn't get them the fair way others did, but maybe I'm just not competitive enough to get the whole medal thing :)

Fitch Aww thanks for the support guys. And Asvini that is true, but it still bugs me that they have medals that they didn't really earn. I try ignoring it, I really do, but it's just so darn hard

huddy_aimee ok i admit i have asked one or two people to rate stuff, fair enough right? but when someone gets like, 40 whatever it was hits on a photo with (im assuming) the space of maybe a few days, thats just crazy!! i know some photos get heaps of hits within days, weeks even but yeah...im sure there's nothing to worry about...just add more stuff and go for #1 again...at least you're in the top (7 is it???) just relax and chill...maybe send him/her a message talking to them about it...

Fitch I think that's fair, huddy_aimee. I'm for people asking to have their content rated, but not like this. But yea, I'll just continue to add content.

Fitch I was so shocked and upset when I saw that I was pushed to second by someone that didn't work that hard in the spot. What was worse was she had achieved the same medal level that I had when I was there adding content for over two years. I added the very first pick in the spot over two years ago. If she did brag to you, then I guess there's no point in bothering to care or letting it upset me. I'm not going to cheat to just get back to number 1.

tushtush Aww, Fitch, that sucks! I hate it when stuff like that happens. The exact same thing once happened to me. I'd worked so hard, just like you, and then someone came along and just took my place. I was so upset, I know exactly how you feel. :(

ineedcoffee I am sorry Fitch, and must say I have been on fanpop for about 2 years and never seen anything rated by 40 + people ever unless they have been up for years, but even then I have yet to see that, the highest number has been 27 I think in the big spots like House, grey's and CSI New York those are the spots that I have seen high numbers I assume oth and gg or twilight spot might have some high raters too but I still have never heard of 40+

celebrityluv I know what u mean cause I have been working my ass off to get a medal and I don't know what I gotta do to get one cause I know I am a real fan of some of these celebrities and want so badly for my hard work and dedication to be acknowledged. I like a lot of things by fanpop but, the medal system is screwed up! They give it to whoever they feel like and sometimes it isn't fair who gets it and who doesn't. I really am mad about it! I tink we should all complain! There needs to be some kind of system where if you upload content and rate stuff and comment on a daily basis and they can have a set number range or something! Instead of drawing out of a hat! Because that's what it seems like they are doing! Wow this is the most I wrote for a comment and I don't even feel good!

McDreamyluva Yeah I think the medal system thing should be revised again. I totally understand your situation. I reckon medals should be awarded not just for the ratings but also other types of contributions as well, plus how long the person has been in the spot. Because then like that person, they can submit a few pics and get a fanatic in 2-3 days when it's the other fans who's contributing. I'm sorry that it happened =(

swimchick That is so frustrating! I've been on Fanpop for almost a year and I only have one medal. I didn't get really into the site until maybe 5 months ago, but I contribute what I think is a good deal to a select 5 or 6 sites that I love and when I see users who have medals for hundreds of spots it makes me sick. What, am I not as much of a HIMYM because I don't have a medal yet? So annoying.

swimchick Oh and also, I've heard that people create multiple sites so that they can rate their own things. RIDICULOUS.
