Chapter 23
Let him in...
Esme POV
I led Rosalie to her ベッド and sat her down on it, letting go of her. I took a spot 次 to her and held her hand.
I rubbed her hand and occasionally wiped tears from her cheeks. Rose’s sobs slowed and her unnecessary breathing returned close to normal.
She looked up at me through her lashes, “I’m sorry…” she whispered, I could tell she was ashamed and embarrassed.
“There is nothing to be sorry for, Rose.” I smiled hoping she would return it. There was no such luck, though.
“Yes, there is Esme.” She was serious…
I knew this is where it all started…
“None of this would have happened if I was smart and left my parents when I realized all they wanted my for was my beauty, so they could get もっと見る money and get into もっと見る parties…none of this would have happened if I never went to Vera’s house that night…” she 発言しました sternly, motioning to the area around her with her arms and throwing her head back. “None of this would have happened if I wasn’t so stupid and called my dad または my driver when I knew something was wrong…none of this would have happened…” によって this time she was sobbing again, uncontrollably. She put her hands on mine and pulled them away from her face. She then moved her head to the side so I could barley see her eyes.
It was quiet for a while before she spoke in a tone I had never heard her use. “This is not me…” It was a strong and humorless voice not her usual soft quality.
“What do あなた mean, hun?” I asked re-taking her hand.
She looked back at me, “I am supposed to be tough and strong…not weak and emotional…”
This confused me, “Rose, everyone has their bad days, even vampires.” I tried to add some humor in there I think it back-fired on me because her eyes changed into a darker honey color. “No one, and I mean no one can be strong every 分 of everyday, it’s impossible. And, as あなた obviously know, the last 2 years have been your own personal h*ll. Rose, あなた are one of the most resilient woman I have ever, met. Any girl I know would have called it quiets and went to the Volutri once she learned about what she was…” she looked thankful but other, もっと見る powerful emotions consumed her.
“You may try to look firm and serious on the outside to try and shield または protect yourself from the same pain あなた went through, but on the inside I know あなた are hurting and crying, not letting anyone in…and it kills me and many other people who care about あなた to see あなた ache and not be able to do anything…and that includes Emmett.” I knew it was a risk for saying that but she needs to understand.
Yet another silence overtook the room as she collected herself. It seemed like she was taking in everything I had said, and she looked surprised that I could read her that well.
“Emmett?” she asked looking up at me, again, after countless 分 of concentration.
“Rosalie, why do あなた think Emmett has followed あなた and worried about あなた since the 日 he has changed? He knows something is wrong…and he cares a great deal for you, even though he has only known あなた for a short time.” I was a little shocked Rosalie did not realize this on her own.
“I’m scared, Esme.” She whimpered as another small tear fell from her eye.
“What do あなた mean, sweety?”
“I don’t want to…” she trailed off in thought. “…I can’t…I mean I shouldn’t like him.” She cried.
“Hun, w..wh..why?” I scooted over to her and wrapped my arms around her shoulders.
“I know he is a good man, better than I would ever deserve…but…”
“Stop right there, Rosalie!” I moved her to look at me. “Why in the world would あなた not deserve him and have a chance at a happy life?!?” my brows were flared in anger, how could Rosalie think that of herself?
“I am not clean…innocent…I am used and destroyed…” she yelled.
We have had this conversation before, at the beach, but again I could not think of what to say…so I let my motherly ways take over…

Even if you’re not ready to 愛 again, let him in…”
With that I kissed her head and walked out of her room, closing the door softly but not before I heard her sobs reemerge.
