At the end of Series Five, Steven Moffat left many 質問 未回答 such as, who blew up the TARDIS? Who brought together the Pandorica Alliance? Who is River Song? And most importantly, who are the Silence? And in the final episode of ‘Doctor Who Confidential’ Series 5, Steven Moffat promised that many 質問 would be answered in Series 6. The 質問 on everyone’s mind was, will they be answered? Let’s find out…
[‘A クリスマス Carol’ will not be covered within this article, it will be covered in a future article]
EPISODES ONE & TWO: The Impossible Astronaut/ 日 of the Moon によって Steven Moffat
‘The Impossible Astronaut’ was a very 人気 episode. Anyone Whovian could tell that purely because of the response it received によって the fans. And rightly so, as it introduced the Silence and showcased the Doctor’s death which was incredibly important towards the entire sixth series. I really enjoyed this two-parter and I think it opened Series Six in a great way. The cast was great, the Silence were really creepy and the script was witty and fun. These concepts carried on into ‘Day of the Moon’ and I highly enjoyed this episode too. There was a scene in ‘Day of the Moon’ which is one of my highlights from the entire Sixth Series, “How fast can あなた run, because today’s the 日 the human race throw あなた off their planet.”
EPISODE THREE: The Curse of the Black Spot によって Steve Thompson
I’m usually in the minority when it comes to opinions but this is one of few times that I’m in the majority when I say that, ‘The Curse of the Black Spot’ was a missed opportunity. I don’t think it’s a terrible episode but I’d be lying if I 発言しました it was an average, it’s definitely below average. In my opinion the best part of the episode is the beginning to the first time we see the Siren, I feel as though the episode went on a downward slope from then on.
EPISODE FOUR: The Doctor’s Wife によって Neil Gaiman
‘The Doctor’s Wife’ is によって far the strongest episode of Series Six Part One. The 書く によって Neil Gaiman was beautiful; especially the ending between the Doctor and Idris, thanks to Gaiman’s 書く I was transfixed while watching this episode. The performances によって the cast were brilliant too, Matt Smith was on 上, ページのトップへ form as our favourite Time Lord, Karen Gillan and Arthur Darvill were great as the Ponds and Suranne Jones was brilliant as Idris. The goodbye scene was truly heart-warming too.
EPISODES FIVE & SIX: The Rebel Flesh/ The Almost People によって Matthew Graham
Not gonna lie, in my opinion this two-parter felt like it was from the RTD era. It’s a lot like the Slitheen two-parter, it had potential but failed. One thing that I didn’t enjoy about it is that it feels like Matthew Graham had just watched the Silurian two-parter and made a few changes to the story. Another thing I disliked was the supporting cast; they just seemed to be phoning in their performances. The saving graces however are Matt, Karen and Arthur as they put in stunning performances as always. I also enjoyed the cliff-hanger at the end of ‘The Almost People’, that was easily my favourite scene in the entire two-parter.
EPISODE SEVEN: A Good Man Goes To War によって Steven Moffat
‘A Good Man Goes To War’ is definitely my favourite Moffat episode within Series Six. I had a ball with the episode. It was incredibly fun while also having dark scenes. It’s all I ask for in a Moffat episode, fun and engaging. I loved how the episode flicked between settings, one moment we’re in Victorian London, the 次 we’re in Zaruthstra ベイ, 湾 and then we’re in the Battle of Demon’s Run. I may be the only person who thinks this but, I think Moffat handled River’s reveal very well within this episode.
EPISODE EIGHT: Let’s Kill Hitler によって Steven Moffat
Like many whovians, I feel that ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’ was disappointment. I think Moffat rushed the introduction of a young River Song. ‘Let’s Kill Hitler’ is the exact opposite of ‘A Good Man Goes To War’, it’s my least favourite Moffat episode of Series Six. We went from knowing River as a dark yet compassionate character to young River who was annoying and careless, don’t get me wrong Alex Kingston had a great performance but I disliked River in this episode. Another thing, what was the point in Hitler?
EPISODE NINE: Night Terrors によって Mark Gatiss
Unlike some people, I actually really enjoy episodes written によって Mark Gatiss and this is no exception. Mark Gatiss’ script is really strong for his first Modern-Day episode of Doctor Who but I also think that it helped that it was a ゴシック episode which Gatiss excels in writing. I really enjoyed the bond between George and Alex as it proves that あなた can grow to 愛 someone over time. Matt Smith was great in this episode especially the scenes between him and Daniel Mays’s character, Alex. “You see these eyes, there old eyes and one thing I can tell you…monsters are real.”
EPISODE TEN: The Girl Who Waited によって Tom MacRae
I loved this episode; it’s easily one of the best episodes in Series Six. We got to visit an alien planet which we had not experienced in a while. This episode was utterly beautiful, all the performances in the episode were spectacular – especially Karen Gillan. I also noticed that this was a lot like ‘Amy’s Choice’ but it was Rory’s Choice, either the young Amy または the older Amy and the resolution to the episode was truly heart-breaking. The direction, script and effects were brilliant too.
EPISODE ELEVEN: The God Complex によって Toby Whithouse
After ‘The Girl Who Waited’, ‘The God Complex’ had a lot to live up to didn’t it? Yes it did, but did I believe in Toby Whithouse? Yes I did. Did he deliver? Yes he did. Right, ‘The God Complex’ is not as good as ‘The Doctor’s Wife’ または ‘The Girl Who Waited’ but I highly enjoyed it. This episode went from being good to excellent によって the ending – it probably has my favourite ending to an episode this series. Matt Smith was incredible in this episode; he really put his all into this episode (as he does with every episode). I thought the Minotaur デザイン really well done (round of applause for the production team).
EPISODE TWELVE: Closing Time によって Gareth Roberts
I’m not gonna lie, I don’t like this episode. It honestly almost ruined the Cybermen for me (thank goodness for ‘Nightmare in Silver’), they seemed like a joke to me. Even the Doctor didn’t seem bothered によって them once he entered the crashed ship and thanks to Craig they were defeated によって the power of LOVE. Gareth Roberts…I know you’re better than this, I’ve seen ‘The Shakespeare Code’. But I’ll admit, it was cool to see the Cybermats for the first time in over three decades and unlike ‘The Lodger’ it made me chuckle a bit.
EPISODE THIRTEEN: The Wedding of River Song によって Steven Moffat
I thought that the episode was fantastic…until Lake Silencio. I thought the first half of the episode was amazing, I really enjoyed the build up especially when the Doctor discovered the death of the Brigadier and realised that it was time to die but then we got to Lake Silencio…which is where the bad stuff begins. It went from an excellent finale to a mediocre finale. I remember that Moffat promised to answer everything and failed except for the Doctor’s death, he also managed to ask even もっと見る questions. I also felt as thought the romantic scenes between River and the Doctor were very one-sided. I definitely feel as though this episode may have worked as a two-parter.
So in my opinion Series Six was a mixed bag, there were some great episodes but at the same time there were some episodes that rubbed me the wrong way. Although some of the episodes were underwhelming, the performances によって the main cast and Alex Kingston were brilliant.

I put a lot of work into this 記事 so just knowing that it’s being read and being well-received just makes me even happier. So just two 記事 left to go, Series 7 and the Specials, the latter will probably be delayed for two weeks as I’m going on holiday. Anyway thanks for reading, let me know what あなた thought about Series Six in the コメント below.
P.S – Do あなた think I should do Series 7 in two parts または all together?
