The Storm
Thunder storms weren't that uncommon in New York city. They hardly lasted an hour. The fact that this one had lasted even longer meant something bad was about to happen, and it was.
While most cars were off the street, for fear of wrecking または sliding off the road, one car braved the storm. It made it's way down to the docs, the lights on the front of the car resembling some kind of angered beast. An angered beast that was charging through the storm with no hopes of stoping. The rain continued to fall in sheets, the car sloshed right through it; while the passengers inside remained 安全, 安全です and warm.
They finally reached their destination; a lone alleyway between two buildings. The car pulled to a stop beside it and the passenger door opened. A woman, clad it a black trenchcoat and umbrella stepped out, her husband calling behind her.
"Now, Charlene. This is a bad neighborhood, hurry up." He urged from the steering wheel.
The docs were well known as a prime gang territory. People were attacked in broad daylight. The fact that it was night...well, he'd rather not think about it.
"It'll just take a second." Charlene insisted.
Craddling a small bundle in her arms, she closed the door with her shoulder; still keeping the umbrella above herself and remaining dry.
Slowly, she walked toward the alley and waited for her eyes to adjust to darkness. The rain continued to fall, glittering and sparkling before it hit the ground. The only good thing about a night like this. She found what she was looking for soon enough.
The front steps of an old aparment building lay in her sight. A roof above protected the porch from the horrible weather, just like it would protect the treasure she held in her arms.
It stirred now, awake. A small pup peeked it's head up, looking around and wondering what was going on.
Were they going on an adventure,he wondered, his hopes quickly perking up.
They were soon shattered when his human set him down on the porch, the edges wet with water and soaking his paws. It was something a normal pup would protest, but he had been better trained than that. Watching her, she pulled a red bandanna from the pocket of her コート and wrapped it around his neck. Even if she was forced to do this, she could make sure the pup had something warm to wear. At least for tonight. It would probably be the only thing he had to remember her by. To remember her family by. His brown eyes looked up, confused. Why were they here?
She finished tying the bandanna and caught his gaze.
"Now, don't give me that look." She said, もっと見る of a beg than a demand.
Honestly, she wanted to keep him. She had tried everything in her power to keep him. All her life she had wanted a dog of her own, it was the exact reason she was excited to get him for her son.

Two months of her and her husband feeding the little thing because Anthony always forgot to. He was always in a rush to play baseball in Central park with his friends. He never thought once that maybe the pup wanted to go with him. Now, here they were.
"You know we wanted to keep you, little guy. We really did." She apologized. "But we can't afford to keep something my son has nothing to do with."
She stood now, the puppy's eyes following her the whole time.
"You'll find a new home. There's plenty of people around here that will take あなた in."
His let out a small whimper. They were leaving him? Why? What did he do wrong? His thoughts were cut off when he heard a noise in the distance. The car horn. Charlene's husband was telling her to hurry up. She took one last look at the puppy.
"Good luck...Dodger."
She began walking off.
It was just a cruel joke, it had to be! They weren't going to leave him here! They couldn't...
Little Dodger hopped off the porch. For a 子犬 the size of a football, the leap was terrifying. But he had to catch up with her. He had to! Maybe if he got to the car they would give him another chance!
But Dodger was to far away. He saw Charlene's leg as she climbed into the car and shut the door behind her. It sped off before he even got to it. And so, he just stood there and watched it drive off; the monster's red eyes were back and they were glaring at him, mocking him. As if saying; i'm the one who got to stay with him. Not you! They faded into the fog.
The little 子犬 just stood there, still in shock. They would come back, any minute. He hadn't done anything for them to abandon him like this! He didn't chew up the furniture, he didn't bite! True, there was that one time with the rug, but that was just because Anthony didn't let him out. He was the perfect pet, nothing like the イヌ on the カートゥーン Anthony always watched.
He stood there for what seemed like an hour, until he finally realized they weren't coming back for him. He turned now, making his way back to the porch. All he had to do now was weather out the worse storm New York had ever seen.
