there's literally no downside. and we have had way more princesses with no romance that defined gay characters. it's important to define characters as gay to cement representation. People like to cry "I don't want the movie to focus on her being gay! I don't Disney to have an agenda?" but... why not? what's wrong with an agenda of representation? Disney's always had some sort of an agenda.

I see Elsa as an asexual and aromantic person more than a lesbian, so she should remains single. Also, most of the petitions asking for a gay character from Disney only meant to satisfy homosexual peoples.

Honestly it seems SO forced. If they really wanted to make her a lesbian, they should of done it from the beginning.

I mean I don't how it even matters so long as the movie is good. Either way I'd give it a chance.

There is literally no upside. It would be ridiculously forced, and orientation needs to stay away from kids' movies anyway. Two year olds do not need gay representation. Make a movie for an older audience if you want gay stuff in it. There's no reason to make a lesbian in the princess franchise. It's hardly even an agenda, it's just flat out pandering to sjws. I don't think Disney's agendas should be about sexuality, politics, identities, and that stuff. (At least with the princess movies hopefully.) Like "oh we need a fat princess." They should make it about giving the audience a classic, universal, magical, and beautiful tale. Watch those old videos like "the making of Sleeping Beauty" etc. They tell you what their goals are. The company should remain with these goals.

Would be very very forced. She doesn't need a romance or lover because she already a strong and independent character imo.

Ideally she doesnt need romance. But if Disney is bent on giving her a one, might as well be gay.

I don't think they would do it, but they should. As princesslullaby said, there's no downside.

Absolutely. Disney's been committed to diversity - when it suits them, at least - since the renaissance (Pocahontas, Jasmine, Mulan, and Tiana are some other "forced" characters who were essentially "made to satisfy" marginalized viewers lol), but they've been super slow to get with the times wrt LGBT representation. And Elsa would actually be a fantastic choice for when they do decide to introduce a gay lead character (it's definitely a 'when,' not an 'if'): she's one of Disney's most iconic and best-loved characters - kids are nuts over her, now I know what I looked like in the 90s :/ - and she has an established background in viewers' minds that doesn't revolve around her orientation. A new heroine (or hero) is automatically going to be dismissed as "that gay character" and people will look for excuses not to get attached.

I'm flexible on this issue though; like I could also get on board with bisexual Elsa.

I feel as though Elsa being lesbian wouldn't be a good influence for kids. Besides, I like Elsa being a single person.

^^ she...doesn't have to be involved with anyone in order to be a lesbian?? it's an orientation, not a relationship status.

also yikes

Nope. You do not need to bring up sexual orientation in any way to have a single one (straight). It just is. It's only if you have two or more (a variance) that kids will see the existence of orientation. They do not need that. Make a movie for an older audience if you want to put orientations into it. People are becoming too selfish.

There are young gay children who need to see themselves represented and seeing someone like them on screen brings validation to their orientation. Unless you are on the LGBT spectrum, I don't think you can really speak for what they want and I don't see how it's "inappropriate" to show gay characters when we are bombarded by straight characters in nearly every Disney movie.

I'm lgbt, and it's very inappropriate to think 2 year olds need to see different orientations. It's also confusing for little ones and they try to copy. That's not what Disney is for anyway. It's wrong to change the goals of the company and say that now we have to push for babies having representation of sexualities. That's not what the company is for. I wonder why we are "bombarded" by the normal orientation of 95% of the population that produces children? That's how it should be. Leave lgbt away from kids, please.

"Leave LGBT away from kids " But there are... LGBT.. Kids!!! Why is being gay or lesbian inherently inappropriate for children??? No one bats an eye at the being bombarded by hetero relationships in every Disney movie. What's the difference? This kind of mentality is infuriating, unfounded and oppressive as well as homophobic. Also that claim about kids copying has no base, and even if it did so what? Do you not have a problem with little children copying straight couples too? The hypocrisy is truly astounding

Lgbt 2 year olds do not need representation. Period. I'm not ok with kids copying lgbt characters. Kids copying straight characters is not a problem. If they do copy them they can grow up able to have babies with someone they love. Do you have any idea how painful it is for some people not to be able to produce their own children with the one they love? It's so easy to convince certain people, especially girls, to be lesbian or bi when they would normally be straight. Sorry you don't have real world experience with this. Of course I don't have a problem with a little girl who has no feelings towards boys yet saying "when I grow up I want to marry a boy so I can be like my favorite princess." It would be sad for that to happen the other way around though. Stop calling it unfounded just because you don't understand. Stop watering down the word oppression so that you have the audacity to think a toddler not seeing gays and lesbians in Disney movies is oppressive. And I don't care if you think I'm homophobic or not. If being reasonable is homophobic then I will be. Who cares what names people throw at you?

I'm not sure who you think you're talking to here telling me to stop doing anything. I basically stopped reading after "I'm not ok with kids copying lgbt characters. Kids copying straight characters is not a problem". So you're a homophobe. No need to continue the conversation. Everything else you wrote is completely delusional.

It bothers me when people think that if Elsa did not meet her "prince" in the first film, she might turn out to be a lesbian. May she has a chance to meet him later? Let there already be princesses who may not be interested in romance at all for a while. Especially since Elsa already had enough problems that she had to think about first: problems with her sister, with her own power and the fate of the kingdom, where she became queen. Of course, she still had to think about dating with someone for complete "happiness" > _ <
