1.Change the story completely! If they're going to promote this movie as a badass and a grand epic adventure in the advertising, they better deliver! Make it about Merida unleashing a curse upon the kingdom because of her selfishness and trying to break the curse by traveling the cursed land fighting evil and dark magic (Basically what the Brave video game was).

2.Make the Witch be the villain of the story. First of all, there has yet to be a female main antagonist in a Pixar movie. Secondly, it makes it more interesting to have her have some kind of agenda with the kingdom and wanting to cause chaos or something and used Merida's naivety to cast the curse.

3.Make Merida's character development well-done and fleshed out to where her horrible actions are more forgivable because she's grown so much and so well that I believe her change. In fact, if it was a grand epic adventure, she'd be able to discover herself while learning responsibility because she has no goals outside of "wanting to stay single and letting her hair fly flow in the wind as she rides through the land firing arrows into the sunset."

4.Change the design of Merida's face! She has the face of a six-month-old baby instead of this more mature and independent female character she's supposed to be.

5.Make Merida a badass character that does get things done and saves the day instead of being a faux action girl and a damsel in distress.

6.Make the humor funny and not so forced

7.Don't make the suitors so pathetic, even if she stays single

8.Make her relationship with Elinor more fleshed out and developed instead of just a half-assed bonding moment that's supposed to show them being close again.

9.Have Merida take some responsibility and sacrifices instead of her mother being the only one to do that while Merida gets everything she wants.

10.Don't make the men such incompetent idiots while the women are competent

The plot could've been better. Also, add more adventure and a better villain.

While I like Brave, the plot always felt a bit too... domestic. I agree with KataraLover and Sparklefairy that there should be more adventure.

I'm not sure exactly how I would change it, but the story could definitely be much improved and more exciting while still retaining the main elements.
