Why is there not a "both" option? This poll isn't asking which type you like more, just which type do you like. Therefore, I feel like there should be a third option.

Is the Prince supposed to be a metaphor for a happy ending? Because really, Snow White is the only one who actively waits for a literal Prince to show up. The rest, while certain ones like Cinderella or Aurora don't actively pursue their happily ever after, they don't just sit around waiting for some magical guy to show up. Part of what makes the DP so awesome is that almost all of them actively pursue their fairy tale ending.

Aang_Lite: f you think about it, Snow White doesn't actively waits for a prince either. In the beginning, she's stuck in a situation that is, for all effects, unescapable, and she wishes for "the one she loves", not even for a prince. Later, when she is in the run, she gets along with her life, finding somewhere to live in retribution of her housekeeping services. She wishes to meet the prince again, but she doesn't obsess with it to the point of not doing anything else. So I don't think it's correct to say that she just waited for "some magical guy to show up".

8804 - You should have worded this question better, then. "Do you like the princess who actively seek their goals or the ones who doesn't better?"

I'm in the middle here. Really, I'v analyezed my preferences and my favorites princesses either a) seek their goals somewhat, but not completely on their own, or b) are stuck in a hopeless situation/don't get a chance to.

Silverrose: Sorry for not making myself clearer. By Prince, I mean love interest. And I would argue that she is waiting for said prince because of the line: "I'm wishing for the one I love to find me today." She doesn't say I'm wishing to find love, but for IT to find her. As a result, I consider her to be actively waiting for the Prince to come. Regardless of what she does after the song, that doesn't change what she wished for. Which is fine, you can wish for whatever you want, but she is still acting passively in the moment.

8804: If you think about it though, each of the princesses require a catalyst for the m to pursue their goals. Ariel's is saving Eric and Mulan's is her father being sent off to war. Without these catalysts, they likely would never have done the things they do in the movie. As a result, I don't really see that much of a difference between the moment when say Jasmine decides to leave the palace, or when Merida decides to help turn her mother human again.

Aang_Lite: She is passively wishing for her love to find her (key word: love. Not specifically a prince, like you said), because there is practically she can do regarding her situation besides hoping and remaining cheerful and kind. And your answer confused me, because previously you wrote: "The rest, while certain ones like Cinderella or Aurora don't actively pursue their happily ever after, they don't just sit around waiting for some magical guy to show up." (Bolded for emphasis)

But waiting for her true love to show up is exactly what Aurora does: "I wonder if my heart keeps singing, will my song go winging to someone who'll find me and bring back a love song to me."

You said Snow White is the only one who actively waits for a Prince (which is half-incorrect, since she at first waited for her true love, and then for the Prince), but Aurora does exactly in same thing. Actually, she is the one who, later, says her dream man is a prince, though I don't think she is being literal.

Oh, and I completely (I can't stress this enough) agree what you said about all of them needing a catalyst.

Silverrose: Hmm, you're right about Aurora, I forgot that line. I usually only remember the first stanza of I wonder. Thanks for pointing it out. Though I generally separate Snow and Aurora in my mind because, while Aurora is wishing for love to find her, she's not necessarily waiting for the love to rescue her. Unlike Snow, Aurora has a perfectly good life with the fairies so there really isn't anything to escape from or pursue. Sure it would be nice to find a love, but nothing in her life really depends on it. Snow White on the other hand is living in an inescapable situation and as a result is acting hoping for that love to rescue her. At least that's the way I interpret it.

^While we can assume Snow White is waiting for her love to rescue her, nothing in the lyrics of "I'm Wishing" really point that way: "I'm wishing for the one I love to find me today" and "I'm hoping and I'm dreaming of the nice things he'll say." Oh, I do assume that she wants him to take her far away from her horrible stepmother (it would be quite foolish if she didn't), but just the same I think Aurora wanted her love to "rescue" her from the boredom of isolated life in the woods.

The ones who seek their prince...
8804 picked The ones who seek their prince and/or don't seek out anyone:
At Ang_lite: I agree with you. I think all the DPs have a catalyst, actually. But the catalyst doesn't necessarily mean much if the princess doesn't "act" on it. For example, in Aurora's case, the catalyst is Phillip showing up and dancing with her. She wants to act on her catalyst, clearly. It's the three fairies who circumvent that ( for the plot's sake, I know).

At Silverrose: I don't think I worded the question wrong, since "the prince" is definitely a primary goal for some of the DPs to "act upon," even if it is not an immediate goal for others ( as in Ariel's case, Mulan's case, Tiana's case, and Rapunzel's case).

No preference honestly. This doesn't affect my opinion on the character at all.
