I can't remember if I asked this question before is so I'll just ask it again. She would be my number one. I love her, I loved her ever since I saw the movie. Esmerelda's witty, adventurous, tough, independent and kind. She rocks!

She would be 9th on my list. She is definitely better character than Snow White and Aurora.

She'd be 2nd.

I saw this movie as an adult so I don't have any nostalgia for it or for Disney's version of Hunchback of Notre Dame.

Anyway, I love Esme, she'd be my number 2 <3

haijrah well for one during the first half of the movie she's basically just a Mary Sue, and those kind of characters annoy me. She was aware of how Quasi felt about her when she kissed him on the cheek to get him to do what she wanted him to do and she just kissed Pheobus in front of him. She completely ignores Quasi when it's painfully obvious that it was him that found the Court of Miracles since he's the one that had the map, not Pheobus. But no she doesn't thank him, she just cuddles up to her boyfriend and doesn't pay any attention to Quasi.

The main reason I hate her is when Frollo is searching for her she's just watching as thousands of people suffer or die and she does nothing. She claims to be this strong character who stands up for people and will do anything to help them but she just acts like a coward hiding while innocent people suffer.

Plus people are always saying what a strong, heroic, bada** character she is when she's absolutely nothing of the sort, quite the opposite. She's constantly getting into distress and needing saving from Quasimodo, Pheobus, the preacher, the gypsies, random village people that don't even have names, and her pet goat, A STINKIN GOAT! Plus it bugs me how Quasi just gives and gives for her and she's just bad at it. He saves her life several times and knows her a lot better than Pheobus does. Quasi gave up and risked everything for her and she still decides to go with Pheobus, likely because he's good looking. The only things I like about her are her looks(she's beautiful but still nothing special) and her beautiful voice.

I've always prefer Madellaine from the sequel WAY more than her. She's a much better and stronger character than Esmeralda, plus much more beautiful in my opinion. I sure hope I don't get attacked by any Esmeralda fans.

Esmeralda was not aware of Quasimodo's feelings for her, and she kissed Phoebus because after she said "That arrow almost pierced your heart", he said "I'm not so sure it did" and they kissed. They were not aware that Quasimodo was in the room.

Quasimodo only thought of her as an angel, and Frollo only thought of her as a sex toy, while Phoebus likes the good and the bad. Quasimodo glosses over the thought of her shaking her "Bon bons" in front of men for money, and uses her sexuality to her advantage. He is unaware that she is pretty violent and has an ability to curse, while Phoebus likes all of that.

Her stubbornness, tend for violence, her sexual behaviour, and her cursing can be seen as flaws as well, but you are entitled to your opinion

You do make some good points KataraLover, she definitely was aware of Quasi's feelings, it would be a little stupid of her to not know that. But I have to disagree with some things. Most women would've chosen Phoebus over Quasi, no matter how good Quasi was. And it's also complicated to judge in those situations where people are suffering and dying and you are somewhat helpless. But no, definitely not trying to change your opinion. Those are kind of the reasons why I dislike Pocahontas and I don't want to talk too much about it because yeah...

KataraLover, that is like saying that Robin Hood isn't brave because since he already did a brave thing, his bravery has higher standards. Well what you are saying is equivalent to saying that Robin Hood isn't brave because he didn't save friar tuck when he was wanted. You are basically pointing out the reasons why she shouldn't have just went and stood up. Their were thousands of people there, exactly! She is wanted. Would it be smart to just come out of nowhere trying to save people when she is wanted. She has already saved people, why can't she take her own time to save herself? Why don't you except Ariel to go saving people non stop?

Esmerelda saved Quasi, Pheobus, and was great help to everyone. This may be your opinion but some things you said don't make sense. Like Aurora, I hate her to death, but I now realize she isn't a Mary-sue.

I understand if you hate Esmerelda for the reason that she hurt Quasi's feelings, but I don't see how Esmerelda is a Mary Sue and damsel in distress. People like Aurora and Wendy are Damsel in distressess. Feel free to reply.

Katara- you completely took the words out of my mouth! But my main problem is how trashy she is. really? a girl as smart and capable as she is supposed to be resorts to becoming a seductive exotic dancer, and that's supposed to be a strong role model?! but yeah, I didn't notice the Mary Sue thing till you pointed it out.

Her aggressiveness is also a turn off. Her church scene was her one good point if you ask me. Her looks are overrated too. pretty hair, but too trampy looking. I bet if she was a white girl or had smaller boobs she wouldn't get as much hype. notice how none of the white heroines (except Ariel I guess since she wears a shell bra, or seductive Meg who is still fairly covered up) gets called sexy. just beautiful or cute.

I quite like her, I think she'd be about 5th for me.
