I'm not asking what is the bravest act, but what act is the rarest. Like Mulan did the most courageous thing but I think that's more something I'd do if my father's life was at risk than fall in love with a beast, I honestly just couldn't. But I'm not asking what you'd never do either, more like what you almost never see other people doing. In real life, you know how rare it is for a rich and beautiful woman to marry a poor man? Street rats are considered uncivilized people and barely no one from a higher social status would give them the time of day. And financial problems represent the equivalent of a bad life.

Unless the bloke who looks like a monster is rich, famous or a football player, I don't think he would have a hope.

Or marry a poor man. I think Pocahontas's is pretty common actually. (At least with people I know.) You could've had one with Ariel, because I think leaving your family to be part of a completely foreign world is pretty rare.

For Ariel, I feel like every girl did the same thing Ariel did, the movie just exagerrated the situation if you know what I mean. From people I know, Pocahontas' act is common just for younger females.

dimitri_is_hot I take offense to that....the statment says "Marry a poor man when she could get anyone she wants"...It did not say a rich, beautiful woman.....are you assuming only rich,beautiful women can get anyone she wants? And poor man does not automatically mean street rat....Oprah Winfrey started out from Poverty and look at her now....Love is not based on what is in the wallet and it is not rare for a woman to fall in love with a poor man....and this one that I chose should not be rare....Just because a man looks like a "monster" does not make him one...Are you saying if you can get any man you want you should not follow your heart? that monsters do not deserve love? that street rats do not deserve love? that poor people and monsters should only love each other and leave the pretty and rich people alone?

I am not saying it is impossible but I have heard women who dated/married men who do not have jobs/have financial debt AND don't do anything about it. Instead of looking for job opportunities, they just sit down on the couch and watch tv all day long.

And the belle one because I have heard of girls dating/marrying dark/moody men, believing they can change them, but despite showering love on them, the men don't change and have no redemption ever.

SweetPea2007 I'm not saying that they don't deserve love. Of course I'm generalizing, but just look around you, it's not likely for someone to break a social norm. And for Oprah, it's a one in a million chance of it happening to someone. I may sound horrible and you may not like it but it's the ugly truth.

fahmad27 Yeah I know some do, that's why I generalize grown women. Most of the time, people will think those women are stupid because like you said, they failed to change a man. I don't think they are dumb but thinking you can change a man with your love is dumb. And some of those unemployed men cheat on those good women and it's sad but that's the way it goes.

Well it might be rare in "Social situations" but it is pretty glamorized in movies:
Tarzan,Aladdin,George of the Jungle,The Notebook ,Titanic ,Notting Hill,10 Things I Hate About You,The Breakfast Club,Dirty Dancing,Overboard ...ect ect.....Jasmine did not want money she wanted love and she just happen to find it in the lower class...it happens....Mixed couples used to not be a social norm either but it is a lot more common now....Rapunzel also married below her social standing, but they fell in love with each other for who each other were not where they stood in the hiearchy....well heck Beast also married a poor girl and Naveen too.....maybe they should have held out for somebody closer to their social standing....

I understand that is your personal opinion and I am sorry If I am a little bent out of shape....but I married a poor man.....not because I could not get anyone else but because I love him....maybe I could have gotten a richer man, but I wanted him because he makes me happy, yeah we are poor but we are happy and have a beautiful family......just because you start poor does not mean you have to stay poor...We are working our butts off and doing what we can...(not everybody is lucky like Jasmine and has everything handed to her....like Tiana we are working toward our goals and earning what we get)

It doesn't really matter if the girl is poor and you're comparing to the movies. Anyhow, I do respect your opinion and again I'm not talking about everyone. I would like to think like you but I can't reject what I see. For example, my mom married my dad for love when she could've married a doctor. I'm not gonna go into details but we had financial problems and many other problems. My parents were miserable and then divorced. My mom is now with a rich man and she's very happy. I'm very unhappy so money doesn't buy happiness. And I care a lot for my ugly male friends. Even though I LOVE them, I'm not gonna date them. I can't be with someone that's not financially secure but I can't be with a rich man who's a complete A** hole either.

Would if your ugly friends were rich would you date them then? And surely your mom did not marry this new man only for his money...I am sure it was a bonus....And you should not marry a man only if he can support you...me and my husband have jobs but the economy is hard and we have a hard time making enough money to support our family....my husband is trying but it is hard to find good jobs sometimes....We love each other so much that we can get through the hard times togeather....well I am done with my rant....sorry to be a bother...

It's okay and no I wouldn't date my friends even if they were rich, 2 of them are actually. I hate taking advantage of someone and I wouldn't marry a man ONLY if he could support me. But he still needs to have a career, that's just one of my standards. My mom isn't with her boyfriend just for his money but I'm certain she wouldn't be with him if he was poor.

wouldn't see that happening most of the time. Especially since most women would tend to fall for a guy with looks, power,fame,money, and reputation like Gaston, than a guy like the Beast.

I'm not trying to generalize in any way, shape or form, however, nowdays grown up women are more out for money, success and stability and need a wealthy, sucessful and stable person by their side. So yes, I believe it is a rarer thing for a modern woman to go for someone who comes from poverty when she can have someone more successful and wealthy, however, doesn't mean it's entirely impossible for it to happen.
