Yes, well had it read to me/I read it also, a long time ago. It is TOTALLY different version. There is an animated movie that is not ディズニー that is もっと見る accurate to Hans Christian Anderson's. Its a 1992 Japanese film. But I have a copy of it in English. I bought it for cheap in a retail store near where I live.

that version litterally made me want to cry! its just sad that the prince doesnt fall in 愛 with her!
There are other versions of The Little Mermaid but this one (above) and Disney's version are the ones I like best. There is one that I have on dvd that is like a combo of both.
I remember watching that, it made me cry too. I felt so bad for the heroine and the story was so bittersweet. It was beautiful and tragic even though I still prefer the ディズニー version because I 愛 Eric/Ariel developing mutual feelings and Eric is definitely a much better prince.
It is isn't it? It made me cry every time I watched the japanese version. Since the girl did suicide at the end and leave her pearl to the prince. But are あなた really asing anything?
