^ Right though. They can take both of us on. Not only do fanfics/fanart help people practice their skills and inspire their creativity but they take time and effort just like any other.

I've read fanfictions with better writing and more intricate plots than actual books. Recently finished Cruel and Beautiful World (a pretty famous one) - which is over 1000 pages and amongst the best pieces of fiction I've ever encountered.

Making your own characters is not a prerequisite for something to be "real" writing. Eg. Historical fiction, based on historical figures with already-(loosely)-defined personalities and some plot points/"canon" already laid out, is just as valid as any other form of fiction.

Just because it's based on something that already exists does not mean that it isn't any different than other forms of writing or art.

Art is limitless. You cannot define it by official or fanmade standards. Same for Writing. It is exactly what the word says !!!!

I've been putting my heart and soul into two Pitch Black x Anna shipping fics and I'll be darned if someone's gonna try to tell me that's fake writing.

People in general need to realize not getting paid to do a thing doesn't make that thing less valid than if you did.

!!!! I think more people need to know and realize this! Just because something isn't professionally done doesn't mean that it can't be good.

^ And that's how I am. I enjoy writing stories, money or no money. I don't do it for $$$, I do so because I love it. Same with art.
