I believe that Damon can bring the old Elena to life, the girl who had fun and just lived life. So Damon and Elena are slowly re-awakening each other, it takes time its a work in progress, it does not run a smooth course but its about the journey they are on to get to that point. Even though they may try to push each other away at times because they are both afraid to come out of that safety zone, that safety net which brings about vulnerability. It still doesn’t matter because they are like gravity. As the quote for one of the Damon and Elena posters says> “Drawn together and not pulling away.”
Damon and Elena also both accept people for who they are in spite of everything. They both 愛 unconditionally. And this is the reason why Damon and Elena are NOT like other people and also why people have a hard time understanding both Damon and Elena actions. No one is saying everyone has to think like them be like them, but what the writers are 表示中 is that this is who Damon and Elena are. Throughout season 1 we have seen moments as early as episode 3 where Elena and Damon just get each other, as such because of the understanding between them.
That understanding allows Elena to feel compassion for Damon in spite of everything that he has done.
If there is no understanding then あなた could never feel any kind of compassion for them. And understanding needs to be there first. Some people are able to do it but others can’t. Some people look at life in a black and white manner and others do not. Many people have a hard time trying to find the gray between the black and white.

Now it truly amazes me that people consider Elena to be weak. After everything she has been through. Her both parents died. Elena is punishing herself for her parent’s death and hence the reason why she refuses to live life the way she use to. She no longer has fun, she no longer goes to parties she does not feel the need to just hang out with her フレンズ and live the life of a normal 17 年 old. None of these things matter anymore because Elena has practically done a 270 degree turn on her personality.
