I think her 愛 with Stefan is an escape from her past life. Her life before her parents died. Stefan doesn’t remind Elena of her old life. That life with which Elena believes and has convinced herself that caused her parents death. But I think death has a serious impact on one’s personality and I think that Elena will seek out a different kind of 愛 with time. No one is static and what one once needed at one point with time and with growth its no longer needed as much and this is the reason why people seek out different kind of loves until they get it right. Elena she’s 17 years old she has much to learn when it comes to 愛 and with age comes that. No one knows what their future holds, they live for the moment and hope that the future it will always be that way but again no one knows what their future holds.

We’ve even seen a bit of manipulative traits on Elena part and she only shows these sides of herself to Damon.
