Damon & Elena Article: Elena made the right call

After a whole 日 of Elena-how-could-yous and oh-poor-Damons, I came to realise that, Elena made the right decision of choosing Stefan RIGHT NOW.
It’s because she still loves him.

And so, she can’t be with Damon YET. “I care about you, which is why I have to let あなた go”. I know we are all angry that it’s still “I care about you”, but say she admitted she loves Damon knowing that she’s choosing Stefan (for now) anyway, isn’t that just too cruel? She loves him, but she’s not ENTIRELY in-love with him. She only just acknowledged that she has feelings for him.

Choosing Damon now would seem like a way “to get him out of her system” and she doesn’t want to do that to him. Damon deserves もっと見る than a woman who still loves another. He deserves someone who will 愛 him wholly; not half-empty または half-full, but FULLY. She loves him enough to want that for him, which is why she had to let him go. She can’t be selfish; she can’t take advantage of Damon’s love. That would be “too Katherine” and that’s not as a compliment.

Therefore, she’s right to go back to Stefan at the moment. She needs to know if they are still going to work despite everything Stefan did to hurt her and push her away; she needs to know instead of constantly wondering “what if”. Because let’s be honest, Stefan might be a self-righteous ass, but what he did for his brother was one of the reasons for his downfall. Meeting him INSPIRED Elena how to live again and partly the reason why she chose Sefan; not because she owes him (as she mentioned to Matt), but it’s because she has this idea of what 愛 should be, “you should 愛 the person that made あなた glad that you’re alive”. Do you? Anyway, no one can tell her what loves is, she needs to figure that out によって herself.

SpikesGirl I agree 100 %. Damon deserves better than someone who is only gonna give him half of her. He deserves someone willing to give him all of her. As for now, Elena cant give him that, because she cant let Stefan go. But, now with her being a Vampire, and remembering everything Damon compelled her to forget, maybe she will take time and reconsider her decision. But for now, she made the right call, not because I like Stefan, its because its whats right for Damon's heart.

delenasalvatore The thing is, Elena's choice wasn't solely about loving Stefan. I mean, she does love him, but she loves Damon too. The reason she went back to Stefan was as much about loyalty to him as it was about love. In fact, I think it may have been MORE about being loyal to Stefan than it was about love. Her loyalty to Stefan - because he saved her and made her feel glad to be alive at a time when she felt alone and lost - overrides what she feels for Damon, even though her feelings for Damon are more intense. That's where she went wrong. So although I can accept that she wanted to be fair to Damon, she's not judging equally. That's why I think she made the wrong choice.

ivybelle ^^i thought of that too, heck everybody thought of that, but as usual Elena is being in denial and stubborn.everyone including herself thinks that loving Damon is wrong, it goes against everything she knows and thinks how love should be, but what we sometimes forget is that she's only 18, she still has a lot of growing up to do; she's bound to make a lot of mistakes and wrong decisions. if you think she made a mistake by choosing stefan, then maybe she needs to make this mistake; it's the only way she'll learn she made the wrong choice. but i'm still hoping that her decision is mostly because she wants to give Damon all of her. it's only fair.:)

Honestly, I thought I wanted her to choose Damon in the finale (and expected her to do so), but as soon as the phone call was over, I realized how wrong it would have been for her to choose him now. And your article sums up all the reasons why. (especially your last paragraph).
