I`m confused

I have seen two versions of the "Swan lake" ballet and in both of them Odette/swan and the prince surviveda and lived "happily ever after". Did I miss something? Since I though Odette died in the end.

Well in some versions Odette and Siegfried live together a "happy ever after" but in some other versions Odette have to kill herself to break the curse. So she jumps from a 丘, ヒル with Siegfried, the prince who can't live without her and want to die with her.
I guess that the end depends of the ballet maker.
