You never knew what Angel was on about..!

I think that Bangel and Spuffy have there ups and downs. In The series, Bangel was in heat for some time until Season 2 and 3. When Angel thought that Buffy needs a man in her life that can be in light. And he thinks that Buffy needs a better life. I mean Angel had feelings for her and so hasn't Buffy. But Buffy felt that same way.

In Spuffy was more understanding each other than Bangel. Spike and Buffy's history was more as mortal enemies and than became as lovers. Now, that I can understand. Buffy was starting to trust Spike as a gang member. In season 5 when Buffy discovered that Spike was in love her. She was ignoring that Spike was in love with her and treat him as a man. And trust him with Dawn and protect her from Glory. Besides in "The Gift" Buffy made a deal with Spike to keep a watch on Dawn and protect her all times. Now that tells us that Buffy can trust Spike . In season 6 was more darker than ever. Buffy came back from the dead. With no way to feel and understand why she is back from the dead. But Buffy told the only person that she hates that was Spike. Buffy was closer to Spike, that she had no way to feel. She starts addictive relationship with him. That when Buffy wants understand why she let him in. She ask Tara about the spell that brought her back.

But as the series end, Buffy ended her addiction with Spike. Spike still wants her so much that he rape her. Buffy forced him out. Spike went out to search for a soul for the woman he loves.

In season 7, Spuffy was a "Full Circle". Buffy and Spike relationship was in heat. That the both understand one another more than Bangel.

for me? niether were confusing, complex yes but not confusing

for buffy? definitely spike, but love isn't meant to be straight forward it's wild, alive, passionate and living and very confusing

I don't think Spuffy was confusing. It was complex, emotional, and you can't pinpoint it exactly, but not confusing. I found Bangel to be a very one note relationship, in my eyes it didn't have any layers, and Spuffy had a lot of complex layers to it that added to the relationship.

But I agree with debs, for Buffy, her relationship with Spike would be most confusing for her.

yah, NikaDawson and amazondebs Buffy had the most confusing and hard relationship with Spike. That Buffy was in so much pain with him.

I'm with Debs, Nika, and adw. There was much more of a journey in Spuffy than in Bangel. I would go on, but it's already been said.

Yah, Arabella it did felt like a journey for the both couples. Spuffy was a love/hate relationship. And Bangel was more romantic and love. Buffy felt that she was in middle of two vampires. But we all know that Buffy would always love Angel and Spike.

the only thinkg that really confused me was where it came from!

they are confusing and funny, and that's why it's true love, bangel were too sweet and perfect, but spuffy grew to be true love.

Bangel was simple.They loved each other,they dated,they had no future,they broke up,but not because they wanted to.
Spuffy started as mortal enemies,and then to reluctant allys.Then he fell for her,but she was completely grossed out by him.Then he gets almost killed for her sister and she stops hating him so much,invites him into her house and asks him to take care of her sister.Then she dies,and he works side by side with people he hates for her.And she comes back,they reconect,but the fact that he can now hurt her sends it all to hell,they start fighting and end up having sex.She breaks it off because she was only using him.He sleeps with Anya and it hurts her a lot,which means she had some feelings for him,whatever they were.He apologizes,but the apologize turns into rape and she never wants to see him again.But he willingly submits himself to an eternety of torture for her and she sorta forgives him.They start an awkward glancing relationship and reconect again,she knows she has strong feelings for him but only realizes she loves him a few minutes before he dies to save the world.It's pretty easy to say which one is more complicated.
