rhombiii Good ideas. Still, it ALL could have just been friends. I mean, would you want your best friend to get speared by a lightning bolt? Also, the age difference is two years for Aang and Katara. Also, Zuko is 16, and Katara is 14. So, still, age difference. It doesn't matter if it is only two years, you know? Also, that was before they even released the PILOT. And, again, who WOULDN'T blush at what Jin said? Just counter-reasons. I'm a Kataang-shipper, but good ideas.

Tintinfifa Aang is much older. He's 112 years old (don't you know that?) And love can be at any age even if they young, or old. My mother is 45 years old while my father is 41 years old and they still love each other. I know it just your opinion. But I just wanted to correct the Aang's age.

tsmith120 1. So? 2. Maybe that's a good point, but I kind of got the impression that it was more of a motherly thing. 3. Actually, Katara holds a lot of sway in the group - Zuko knows this. He also knows that she was the one he sort of betrayed in season 2, and that she's the most likely to hold it against him. Which she does. And takes the longest to convince otherwise. 4. I'd assume because she's the best choice for taking on Azula, aside from possibly Toph. How much use would Suki or Sokka have been in that fight? She's a very powerful bender, as he has seen firsthand; he's also seen her take on Azula toe-to-toe and hold her own (end of season 2). 5. Katara was still angry at him at that point, and he knew he needed her to accept him into the group - she was the only one who hadn't at that point. So yeah, he went out of his way to help her. Nothing really romantic about it. 6. Not really. He was just taking a seat. It wasn't a big deal to him where anyone sat, as he said to Aang. 7. Well yeah. Because she's not his girlfriend, and they'd seen the whole Ember Island Play at that point. It would be a little uncomfortable having people say that. From personal experience, it can be embarrassing having people say that you have a thing going on with a friend who is nothing more than a friend. 8. Again: So? He'd likely have done the same for anyone else at that point, Katara just happened to be the one in the firing line. 9. But she wasn't, and it never happened. I've never even heard anyone say that, to be honest. 10. Yeah. Like you said, it's not that important. I get that it's personal opinion, though.

ErinLynnie I feel like your points are to simplistic. 1) yes they have losing a mother in common, but that's not the most important thing that gives them a connection. Not only did the share a similar experience. They act alike. Both are serious and tend to not joke around but when they do, its funny to watch them try to be funny because it out of character for both of them. At Ember Island they where able to play off each other with the little back and forth. Katara said something about his actor "I think he is pretty spot on" and Zuko "how could you say that" then the actor repeated what Zuko just said and Katara smiled at him playfully, so they have similar humor and they get each other. 2 the cross roads was more then just Zuko letting her touch his scar, up until this point Katara would slightly open up to people and give her story about her mother, but she never really let all her walls down, but she did with Zuko, no holding back, just her and him letting their walls down, left alone to nothing but feelings of confusion, disdain, and then a sort of peace, her small gesture of just touching his face while he stood their silent had more meaning and depth then any moment shared between Katara and Aang. 3) he wanted all their approval, and yes Katara's meant more to him because of what he had done to her, but Katara took it personal she took it to heart, "Then you turned around and betrayed ME....betrayed all of us" she put more emphasis on me. He made a choice and it really hurt her, almost like a man walking out on a woman when things get to serious. 4) Around the time of the old masters episode and back to the first episode of season three (the awaking) Zuko was standing alone looking out and Mai walked over to him, He started to talk to her, he wanted to open up to her, but she just shut him down insulted him, and made him feel like shit for wanted to talk to his own girl friend, Mai is a horrible person and she is selfish and only rescued him from the boiling rock for selfish reasons, (I need to get my boyfriend back is basically what that was) then back to the old masters, Zuko is about to go to his uncles tent and he can't, Katara sits down no question asked and does what Mai should have done, something a girl friend does lightens his spirits, makes him feel better and gives him the confidence he needs. 5) the southern raiders is my favorite episode, it really shows how hypocritical Aang is he tries to say to her she shouldn't go out a deal with her pain, "how do you think I felt when sand benders took Appa" Aang took off and abandoned everyone in the desert then when he finally came back and found out who stole him he went right into the avatar state, blew a sand ship apart, frighted people who didn't have anything to do with the kidnapping of appa, and made Katara calm you down again, and then when Katara feels like she needs to go find the man that killed her mother, he basically try and force her to think the way he does, even though his action show other wise. Zuko wanted to help Katara over come her pain, he really cared about the way SHE felt not how he saw things or how he thought she should handled, also Aang tried to use a guilt trip to make her not go, when he said "I forgive you for taking Appa that give you any idea's" he is not all that wise, wise people don't go around shoving their ideals down the throats of others bigots do that. Then when they both came back from their journey, Katara was sitting by her self for a reason, and Aang came running up to her ready to bombard her with questions, his foots steps loud and annoying, Zuko walked up silent and just waited there for her with reserve, respect and a tenderness was shown on both their faces during the hug. I believe I have some lyrics that fit Aang and Katara"You can see her in a pane of glass you think you know her but you don't" then Zuko and Katara "some things run deeper then blood" 6) really he was just sitting down, though I do like that he sat next her and she didn't seem to care who sat next her. 7) that was cute, they don't like thinking that they have feelings for each other the reason being that they feel obligated to who they are already with. 8) yes he threw his life on the line for her, all he had worked for, all he had gone through. and he took lighting in the heart for her, also saved her from falling rocks, Aang only directly save her life once, and pusned her of the way of rocks, in a cave that had story with it, that is actually the Zutara tale, lovers who's countries are at war, classic romantic tragedy. 9) some of those avatar extras where satire, they said that as a joke, although I would have loved to have seen Zutara happened the just said that to be dicks really mike and Bryan are mean to the Zutara fans. They said anyone who likes them together are bound to have doomed relationships. I don't see how wanting to have a deep emotional connection, that built over time and took work to get there, is trumped by "love at first sight" sorry but that doesn't exist, Katara did not love Aang at first sight, nor did she love Zuko. 10)yeah the fact the Aang is 12 and Katara is 14 was weird to me, it would be like a kid in 6th grade dating a girl in 8th. just weird, also he had an ownership complex, she is not some prize to be won, just because he is the hero. Zuko and Katara should have ended up together, also its not like the entire race of air bender had to rest on Katara's shoulders she is not the only woman who can have babies. I just think the writter where so attached to Aang because he was their first sketch they where bias simple as that, they gave Zuko and Katara an epic tale and then did nothing with it. thought I would throw my thoughts in.

lalala354 I personally agree with OP. I feel like Zutara should be. 1. Aang's time in the glacier caused him to age more quickly, so Zuko and Katara are more compatible in that respect. 2. Aang was brought up by the air nomads, who taught him to rid himself of worldly desires. While he definitely changed from that path, that way of life is kind of where his heart is at. 3. Aang and Toph are more compatible in terms of personality. Aang is gentle, kind, and does not wish to harm any living being. On the other hand, Toph is stubborn and takes the initiative. 4. Zuko understands Katara better than Aang. He understood why she needed to face the killer of her mother. On the contrary, Aang just preached non-violence. While Katara did end up not killing her mother's murderer, I feel like Zuko helped her make that realization more than Aang. By helping her confront the killer, Zuko allowed Katara to discover that she would not kill that despicable human. 5. It would have been more politically beneficial for Katara and Zuko to marry. Before, Zuko destroyed the water tribe. As a result, by marrying Zuko, Katara can repair relations between the water tribe and the fire nation. 6. Their children would be the perfect balance. A master firebender and a highly skilled waterbender create a complement of the elements. 7. Throughout the show, Katara treated Aang more like a little brother than someone she loved. They worked together in battle, and they had very little romantic chemistry. In contrast, Zuko and Katara had numerous moments(Trapped in the earth prison together, Zuko saving Katara's life).

Lecci  all of those arguments are pretty bad and some of them even misrepresent the whole show. 1. also true for Aang 2. Katara has a deep rooted motherly instinct, and they just started to trust each other. and for Zuko, u should have notied that he acted entirly different after his fever and before Azula offered him to come back 3. Zuko cared most about Kataras aprooval because he knew that her opinion was the most importent one for Aang and the most important one for him being able to stay 4. Because he knew that Katara would be good enough to have a chance against azula and while that is also true for Toph, Katara would have been of no real use so far away from any Quelle of water while a metalbender in a airship made entirly out of matle doesn't sound like a too bad idea, also the creators needed someone to heal him after being shot by lightning 5. Zuko did care in the boiling rock because he was in appas saddle and he also agreed Katara because he wanted to get on her good side because she fucking threatened to KILL HIM 6. because it was not obvious to Zuko, have you forgotten about their litteral reaction to Zutara in the play? 7.there was no blush 8. This scene is meant as a conclusion for zukos character ark which was largly based around him regaining honor. It was meant to show that zuko was finally complete and head his honor back. i mean what is more honorable than to sacrafice yourself for a friend. he would have done the same if it were sokka or toph standing there 9. Common misconseption. while it said so in avatar extras, mike and bryan denied that on multiple ocassions. Zutara was never meant to be. also: the avatar extras are not canon, they are meant to be funny 10. age is not so important and i think its actually a good thing to Zeigen that, and yes Katara HAD feelings for him, she leaned in to the KISS at the invasion AND she suggested the KISS in 2x2 cave of to lovers, not to forget she was jealous when Aang was dancing with On Ji instead of her in 3x2. And Zuko and Katara had never remotely shown an affection for each other and the fact that Du care about their age so much just makes Du look shallow
