^ What she said, except I refuse to like him, regardless of how well he treats our beloved Merlin. Kick him to the curb, Arthur my boy!

I do like Lancelot as a character but not when he is around Gwen. So yes, I want Arthur to kick his ass. Looking forward to that fight scene that was shown in the trailer.

Not interested in seeing Arthur & Lancelot fighting over Gwen like they are the cavemen and she is a chunk of meat. She is perfectly capable of deciding who she wants to be with; and she has chosen Arthur.

I find myself becoming more & more resentful of Lancelot's ever-looming presence in Gwen's life. The triangle was handled badly. It makes no sense for Gwen to see Lancelot as anything other than a mere crush from way back when & maybe an acquaintance only because they move in the same circles. She should feel nothing for him but gratitude for trying to save her life & admiration for the brave soul that he is. That is it. I find it insulting that we are supposed to believe that her feelings for him could be anywhere remotely close to what she feels for Arthur, thus making Lancelot a viable competitor for her affections. Gwen & Arthur have been through some serious stuff together and have been there for each other every step of the way. What they have is deep. Lancelot & Gwen have 3 episodes; one of which they didn't even speak to each other & the other 2 Lancelot just left. Making these 2 relationships of comparable significance cheapens what Arwen have. Arthur feeling the need to fight Lancelot for her wouldn't say much for his faith in her and their love.

Long-winded but just thought I would share my growing hatred for this "triangle".

Yeah, I'm really impressed by what Zoe has written with regards to the love triangle as well.

I also think that if the show really wanted a love triangle, it should have been between Merlin, Gwen and Arthur because Gwen's feelings for Merlin was a lot stronger and more believable than her feelings for Lancelot. And if Gwen got over her feelings for Merlin, then you can't expect us to believe that she still has feelings for Lancelot.

When I saw the scene in "Lancelot and Guinevere" where Gwen told Lancelot that her feelings for him would never fade for as long as she lived, I rolled my eyes and thought what feelings? When she met Lancelot the first time, she still had a crush on Merlin and barely paid attention to him other than to act flatered by the attention that he was paying her. And when he left, she never mentioned him again, never showed any signs of thinking about him or missing him. So when did she develop these undying feelings for him? Please.

Why is it that every time Zoe opens her mouth I agree with her almost 100 percent? I can think of little else to say than what she's already said. As usual, she is spot on.

I tell you what it's all about. They want to get as close to the French version as they can get without going totally with the betrayal. They want to keep Lancelot around because they want to appease a certain block of fandom. That's my opinion.

They better have Arwen come out of this smelling roses or else.

Ta ladies.

It makes no sense. Bonne-Bell, that^ and "you are all that's right with the world" & "I never thought I could feel this way about someone". Angel had a lot of cringe-worthy lines in that epi.

Nanna, I agree that that's exactly what they are doing. Question is how far will they take it? Will Gwen's integrity be sacrificed, even if it is just a little, for the sake of canon (which is not even orignal canon)? I have faith in the Js but that is my worry. We shall see...

You are absolutely right Daenerys. I don't want this at all. Them fighting over her proves just little respect they have for her. When Gwen picks her choose they should just SHUT THE HELL UP

I'll be honest with you guys. Ever since the SD comic con I've had a bad taste in my mouth about this. I didn't like the smirky way Santiago and the two guys were acting about the triangle thing, and I don't like it that he brought up the fact that there would be some flirting "and more." At some point before this I had gotten an impression that the "far from Mallory" meant they were going to play down the betrayal aspect but now like Zoe I feel a bit of concern that Gwen's integrity might be compromised in all this. I'm still holding hope that won't be the case, even if it "seems" so for a while,I'm trusting she'll be exonerated when all is said and done.

In other words, Arwen fans, I'm saying we may have to go through some bumpy roads with this thing this season, but I'm really believing that when all is said and done, we'll be thrilled with the end result. Even Angel said she wants Gwen to make some mistakes. I guess she doesn't want her character to be too perfect. That's true to life anyway, right guys? How many people have never done anything wrong; its repentance that's important.

Bonne-Bell picked YES:
^I can accept Gwen making a few mistakes here and there. But I cannot accept her making a conscious decision to go behind Arthur's back to flirt and "do more" with Lancelot. The Gwen that we know would never do that so the producers/writers have better not go there unless some kind of an enchantment is in involved.

Ugh, I'm really getting worried now. They already screwed up Morgana's character for me by making her go bat-shit crazy and trying to kill the two people who had never done her any harm. They better not mess with Gwen's integrity.

@Bonne-Bell: I agree. Mistakes are one thing, but not deliberately going behind Arthur's back to flirt and other things. That's downright betrayal there and deceit. We don't want anything like that. I hope when Santiago said that he meant the flirting was done on his part (perhaps enchanted) and whatever she did was under enchantment or inadvertent. I think that's a part of what makes me a bit unsettled still, the way they messed up Morgana's character. What I mean is yes we knew she'd end up wicked, but for her to do that complete about face with absolutely no remorse was hard to take. I'm still disgusted about her saying in 3x07 to Morgaise at the castle of Fryien "why don't we just kill him now?" That was ridiculous for her to say that so carelessly about the guy who had been like a brother to her, indeed was her brother, all those years.

Let's try to not worry. In my gut I think they intend to maintain her integrity in the long run. But as I said, we may have to go through some misconceptions, confusion, suspicions, and a bunch of
other unfortunate stuff to get to the dawn. You know, a lot of darkness just before the dawn. I can guarantee you, this is going to be a highly emotional season for us.

Zoe you said it so well and my intellectual side agree with you. But my shallow side triumphs and I want the fight. I will enjoy watching the men fight. But like Naima I want it because of the enchantment. I want no conflicted Gwen. When Arthur catches them almost kissing. I want him to react totally irrational and angry. Then he can lash out at Lancelot. Then I want the last part of insecurities he may have to be dealt with and their relationship come out that much stronger. And last but certainly not least I want it made clear that the Lancelot chapter is over and dealt with.

I may be naive about the whole thing. But the writers can't make Gwen cheat on Arthur without completely destroying the character they have made. I just don't see them doing that.

i thought that the "smirky Santiago" about the gwen/lance flirt was about the enchantment
it never occurs to me that gwen will become the tortured poor girl in love with two boys cause like Zoe said , it doesnt make sense to me but sadly the writors are able to write shit

I hope you're right, Naima. I hope the smirks were about the "twist" to the triangle and I hope the twist, whether it is enchantment or whatever makes it that it is not the real Gwen we know doing the betrayal as we know it, then I'm fine with it. I think perhaps they were smirking like that at SD because they're quite pleased with themselves for finding a way to deal with the betrayal without compromising Gwen. That's what I'm hoping. But for some reason their smirks irritated me, lol. I'm sure it's because they were talking about Lancelot and Gwen and I'm always turned off in the pit of my stomach when that subject is brought up.

Don't mind me, I'm a bit overboard about that triangle thing, lol.

@HumbleQueen, yes, the way they handled Morgana's descent to the dark side is also what has me worried about how they will handle Gwen's character with regards to the love triangle. Morgana had the potential to be a sympathetic villain but after what she did to Gwen and Arthur in season 3, I find it very hard to understand her actions or to feel sorry for her.

Also, lets face it, the writers are not good at writing female characters so I can't help but worry about how they will handle Gwen with this love triangle. But I will hold my breath and hope for the best.

^No, no, there is still hope. Now that I think about it, the show has enough female villians and not enough females who are good so they probably won't tamper with Gwen's character too much lest they be called out for being anti-female. I just don't want them to make her look wishy-washy. I want her to be all about Arthur.

I personally thing Gwen should totally go off on Lancelot. She yells at Arthur, she should be able to yell at Lance. He ditched her. Twice. With no real explanation. Therefore, he doesn't deserve to even get a shot with her.
I am all for the "twist" being some sort of enchantment that our Merlin will sort out and all will be well. Said it before, and I'm sure I'll say it again: Family show, kids.
