Bonne-Bell Exactly, Stacey. And what kind of man would Arthur be if he had picked his kingdom over Gwen? Just think about how our perception of him as a man and a future king would have been if he had turned his back on Gwen and choosen Camelot over her as she had been sentenced to death and was about to be burnt at the stake. In 305 Arthur also said that he would give up his crown if doing so would save Morgana's life but I don't see people complaining about how that was wrong and out of character. Oh, this fandom.

lv2rt What did Guius say...the power of love is a stange thing. In fact, if a man would choose status and money, power and control over the woman that he loves, he doesn't love her. And the fact that Arthur has trained for this all his life proves just how strong his love is for her. But I also know that he reiterates his choice again and it proves his love for her. The intensity of the choice (including unto death) is what a man would do for those he loves, especially the woman he loves. The thing is Gwen would never let him give up his kingdom for her thus proves she is the right woman for him and the right choice as queen for his people. But you all are right. The power of true love is unimagable to those that have never experienced it. Even to the point of dying for someone you love would seen foreign to them but a natural choice for those who know what love is and what it means.

EPaws Real love, as you have said Lv2rt. Seriously, I want your name. Caues it is annoying having to remember your moniker. Anywhooo, real love is selfless. Of course she would never allow him to give up his calling, but the strength it takes to potentially do is unmatched. It isn't hearts and flowers. It is a grounding. See it is emotional ground zero. It is the best place to fight from. No one can touch you there. You are in perfect isolate and in the moment of truth. They have no weapons against it. Martyrs are built from it. In fact, nothing great has EVER been attained but through it. NOTHING.... It has no bearing on your longevity. It is a source of infinite possibility and infinite strength and from it brims a well spring. Yeah, many just rolled their eyes, but I think you get what I mean. IT IS THE ULTIMATE WEAPON. I believe someone died on a cross about it lol...another version of it. The biggest version of it. Allegory or otherwise ;) It is the greatest thing we will ever do to love, selflessly and it is a damned wonderful gift. It is beyond powerful and it behooves us to encourage it. Many things have been done, through and with love. It is a game changer. Would that we all HAVE THE PRIVILEGE to experience it.

Bonne-Bell @Stacey, I agree, it is best to avoid that topic. I didn't even intend to bring it up. It just came to my mind as I was typing that I have seen people complaining about Arthur wanting to give up his crown for Gwen but those same people have never complained about him wanting to do the same for Morgana. I've never had a problem being able to identify with a character just because I don't share the same race as the actor/actress portraying that character. But some people clearly do hence the irrational hatred towards Gwen who I think is a lot more relatable than Morgana.

EPaws Exactly Bonne Bell. I am a media analyst by profession. I take in all the do's and don'ts. Assinine to be real, but far more good than ill exists. Hence the audience growth. The idiots will remain the idiots and shallow too. Here is the ticket. The nice thing about the truly shallow is something else grabs their limited attention around the corner. Nasty_Nat I agree with all of you. The person that said that is an idiot. Instead of appreciating the show and how the characters are played, in subtle way was refering to race. Us fans, we go beyond that and we know better. We enjoy how the actors portray their charatcers with such grace and amusement. When I watch the show that I love, I try to identify myself with those characters what make them tick, make some hard choices, what make them loyal to one another, put their differences aside to conquer evil and love one another. I remember the S2 ep10, Sweet Dreams, when Merlin wanted help from the great dragon un-enchant Arthur from love potion. He said this force has puzzled many minds and that the strongest force of all...LOVE. Loving someone like Arthur does Gwen, is gift and most powerful and privilege to have for someone else. When Arthur said he would give up his throne to be with Gwen, I believe him. Bradley did excellent job doing that scene. That person who said that, has never experience that ever in his/her life. That's ashame because he/she missed out, big.

Bonne-Bell @Stacey, yes, lets get back to Mr. Fine Ass. God, no man should have the right to look that good. As you said, the heart wants what the heart wants and my heart wants an Arthur Pendragon. But obviously that's never going to happen so there goes my love life.

lv2rt My name is Linda and "lv2rt" is "love to write". You know I don't see race in this at all. While there have been many times where I have read things online especially about Gwen where race was clearly the issue, here I just see ignorance. I don't mean idiodicy I mean the lack of experience and knowledge. I have discovered a lot of people like this online. It's a sad state of affairs for humanity. The thing is Morgana would love for Arthur to give up his throne for her...in this case literally. That's the difference. This is Arthur's birthright. It is his place in life to be king. Her willingness and effort to take that away from him proves she is not the one to have it in the first place. In this case he would not be the king he should be if he would allow her to take the throne, especially for his people. This is something Gwen clearly sees.

11rod88staff11 Consider that Morgana is the true biological daughter and eldest of Uther Pendragon. Arthur was destined to be king because he is the first born SON. I sympathize deeply with Morgana's feelings that mysogyny are at play (in a Camelot culture that is all misogyny and if not for misogyny... it would be her right to the throne, not Arthur's. The fallen and oppressed religions of Magic... like druidry.. they were far more matrifocal.
