i like almost all anime art, but there's a couple exceptions. one is 80's anime that have a lot of monsters in them or deformed characters or exploding characters. i just hate the fleshy blobs found in a lot of those old shows and graphic guts and gore. the other is certain dark shojo/josei titles like X. even if the plot is compelling, i might not be able to watch it.
i'm a lot more picky with the manga i read. i will only read manga that has light line art and light shading in it. if too much of the page is black, or they fill the page with all sorts of dark shades of grey (such that it looks like a black and white scan of a colored comic), i will not be able to read it.
Some of the artwork just plain scares me. If it is a good story, and it comes highly, and I mean *highly* recommended I might forgo my fears and watch it anyways, but that doesn't happen very often.
Yes. I like the art more when it's realistic, but I don't always watch an anime based on the art style. Though most of the time I'm correct about the anime sucking when the art sucks. Usually I hate the really cute and annoying anime (which is what most new anime is, btw).
