Chapter 20: The Fun-Loving Omega

Humphrey’s life improved significantly ever since he officially became part of the Western Pack. Everyone was kind to him, the caribou was the best he had ever had, and most importantly, he was happy. So happy, in fact, that over the years, he slowly began to forget about his past. He forgot about his life in the woods with Arnold, and he forgot about his real family. In time, he truly believed he had lived in the Western Pack his whole life as his traumatic memories were slowly suppressed によって his new life.

Shortly after Humphrey was accepted into the pack, Kate’s mother gave birth to an omega pup they named Lilly. Ten years came and went during which Humphrey grew from a scared little pup into a playful fun-loving omega. Over the years, he and Kate became best friends, always playing together whenever they could with Humphrey sometimes helping Kate pupsit Lilly. Humphrey and Lilly became good フレンズ as well, but there was still something special about Kate and Humphrey’s friendship.

No matter how much time passed, Humphrey’s crush on Kate never dulled, and although she would never admit it, Kate’s crush on Humphrey never dulled either. But as they grew older, the pack’s law against alpha’s and omega’s mating became もっと見る and もっと見る of a reality, one that Kate slowly began to accept, but one that Humphrey refused to. While the two never drifted apart, Kate soon realized that her 愛 for Humphrey could never be and she eventually gave up on it, telling herself that they could and would still be good friends. Little did she know that, deep down, she still loved him and wanted to be with him. Humphrey, however, still refused to face the sad truth that Kate had learned herself. Knowing that they could never be together, Kate knew that she had to tell Humphrey, but she didn’t want to. But then one day, time pressed her to do so.

Kate had gotten to the point in her life where she would soon have to start alpha school in the 次 few years. After she became a true alpha, Kate and Humphrey would be forced to give up their feelings for each other. Kate knew that Humphrey would be crushed if he had to find out so suddenly, which is why she finally decided to tell him the painful truth now.

“Humphrey,” she 発言しました one day.

“Hey, Kate,” he replied. “What’s up?”

“I need to tell あなた something,” she said.

“Okay.”

“Humphrey, in five years, I’ll be starting alpha school and when that happens,” she stopped and sighed. “We can’t be together.”

“Sure we can, we can keep it a secret,” Humphrey said.

“No, we can’t Humphrey,” Kate said. “You know as well as I do that the penalty for alpha’s and omega’s mating is banishment. No one is exempt from it. My father is the leader of the pack and I’m 次 in line. What would we do when it comes time for me to find a mate, an alpha mate?”

Humphrey’s face slowly turned solemn as he finally accepted this harsh reality.

“Humphrey,” Kate said. “You and I will always be best friends, but we can’t be together. I’m sorry.”

“No, I’m sorry, Kate,” Humphrey said. “I should’ve accepted it sooner.”

Over the 次 couple days, Kate worked hard to find some new フレンズ for Humphrey to hang with since the two would soon be distanced as Kate would be taking up her responsibilities as an alpha. The truth was, Humphrey didn’t have any other フレンズ besides Kate and, occasionally, Lilly. Not because no one wanted to be フレンズ with him, but because Kate was the only one he wanted to hang out with.

Kate eventually found three omegas around Humphrey’s age named Salty, Mooch, and Shakey who were just as wild as he was. The three of them soon became good フレンズ with Humphrey, but his 愛 for Kate never dulled, even though he had finally accepted that it was just a dream and nothing more.

The four フレンズ soon became the pack troublemakers, getting into all sorts of mischief together. Humphrey’s hardships were finally at an end. After everything he had been through, he could finally settle down. The Mysterious Man would have no opportunity to get at him for another five years, and even when the man did make his move, it would only make Humphrey’s life better, making his dream of being with Kate a reality.
