Does anyone else not know how to act when they get a gift?

I mean,like when I open a gift I have no idea what to say..even if I like it..I just end up making a sarcastic コメント about it and the gift giver gets really sad..then I feel really bad....

In my last Bday, One of my aunts brought hand-made Icecream and I 発言しました "Yumm! I'll eat it later!", After the party, We just got and drop it in the trash :P It could've 与えられた us a tummy ache! Hope I selled "ache" right :P

but it's hard for me for some reason!....I never really got girfts when I was little and whenever my dad got something that's what he would do...
