By far, he let his son fall through a portal and be fatherless, starving for at least 6 months. He's the worst parent in the show.

^ and he spent his entire life trying to fix that mistake!

I think this guy is the worst father by FAR!

But he still chose power over his own son. George is the worst character in the show, but fatherly he's just a bit better than Gold. Plus when he found Neal, he just ignored him in Storybrooke.

^ Neal wanted to be left alone. And how is trying to force your son to marry someone he doesn't want to, giving your son's love a potion to ensure they never have children, and trying to kill your son and his family worse than making one mistake and spending the rest of your life trying to make up for it??

Sort of. Neal only didn't want to spend time with him AFTER episode 19 when he was tormenting someone. King George is a close second though.

No contest here. BUT i have to say that @Evilregal14 you have a point. I was expecting some bonding between Gold & Neal but it seems like Belle it's the only thing that it's worthy Gold's time....

Rumple made a mistake. All parents do. And considering how Rumple's own con-artist father threw him away for eternal youth, it isn't like Rumple really had a good example of a father figure. For all of Neal's childhood, Rumple has basically raised him as a single parent. Rumple initially became the Dark One, risking his life to steal Zoso or Zoro(the old dark one)'s dagger, in order to save Neal from being forced to join the army at 13. But magic comes with a price and Rumple's price was mostly his morality and his son's respect. Rumple had been powerless for so long, he had always been pushed around, stepped on, and was always so weak that he could never keep the people he loved most from leaving him(his own father and Milah). He became obsessive with making sure that no one would take his son away, and that Neal could never run away, he could finally protect his son, he finally had power, but he went crazy with it. And when Neal tried to force him to give it up, he had some doubts of becoming powerless again, but he initially agreed for his son's sake. Him letting Neal go was a moment of weakness, a poor parental choice, which he spent decades doing everything in his power to fix this mistake. He's played with so many lives, cursed an entire realm, lost his memory-but then set things up so that he would regain those memories 28 years after the curse was cast, and then have to figure out how to search for his son outside of Story Brooke without losing his memories, in spite of everything else that was happening around him with Belle and Cora. Rumple loved his son more than anything and did all he could to get back to him.

Now that Peter is her I'd pick him.
